Q: Kidney Infection versus Back Pain?
I have had back pain since Tuesday in the area of my kidneys. I did not have a fever but am peeing alot and feel like crap.

How can I tell the difference between a kidney problem and general back pain?

A: Ouch either way, sorry.

According to this website I found, kidney pain is usually accompanied by tenderness at the site, but strictly back pain is not:

http://health.discovery.com/centers/pain/back/back_kidney.html

It might also depend on other symptoms now or before. You say you are peeing a lot– does it hurt? Have you had bladder infection symptoms in the last week or two? Any blood in your urine? If any of these are true, it is likely a urinary tract infection in your kidneys and you should get in contact with your doctor right away.

You can also get over the counter test strips for urinary tract infections. If you really hate to go to the doctor (and who doesn’t?) you can try one of those. You might also try drinking a couple quarts of Gatorade. I say that rather than water because I had a friend with a UTI who drank so much water it threw off her electrolyte balance and she ended up in the hospital!

Did you do something that might have strained your back. Did you get whacked in the area of the kidneys? Those would be clues that might lead you to think a back injury or kidney injury unrelated to a UTI.

Here is a really good flow chart for diagnosing back pain:

http://familydoctor.org/online/famdocen/home/tools/symptom/531.html

If you go through these and it looks like a kidney infection then you should call your doctor asap or maybe even go to emergency. A kidney infection can be serious and since last Tuesday is kind of a long time.

Take care of yourself, and call your doctor tomorrow either way. I hope it is something simple.

Hugs, Andrea

Q: How can a doctor tell the difference between a kidney infection and a UTI?
I was told I have a UTI and I am on Cipro but my lower back is hurting so bad but only on one side and I dont have any burning on urination or any fever. The only thing I have is trace of bacteria in my urine and a severe lower back pain. How do they tell the difference? My CBC came back good except for low level of B-12.

A: hi there, has your doctor concidered the possibility of kidney stones. Its a very simple diagnostic and i think what you are experiencing is renal or uteric colic pains ( which are the pains to your back) as the kidney stones are passing through to your bladder.
It may be a possibility!
Ask yourself this
Did your back hurt when you went to the doctors? did you tell him this if so?
Are you feeling or being sick?
Is your urine bloody or cloudy?
Do you get a frequent erge to urinate?

Q: Difference between bladder infection and kidney infectionn?
This past Monday, I was diagnosed with another bladder infection, but this one seems to be giving me more pain. I’ve been taking my antibiotics regularly and drinking plenty of water, but I keep having pains in my lower back and abdomen. I don’t have a fever or anything, but could this have turned into a kidney infection? I’m 30 weeks and don’t want to risk going into preterm labor, so what are the differences?

A: I’ve had both. In my experiences are the difference in the pain level and some additional symptoms. Some of the basic symptoms like cloudy urine were similar.

With my bladder infections I never had a fever or severe pain — I never had pain in my back.

With my kidney infection I had a high fever (103), chills, nausea/vomiting, *severe* back pain (I was on pain meds in the hospital) — the pain literally felt as if someone was stabbing a soldering iron in my back.

Bottom line: I felt VERY SICK with my kidney infection. I was in the hospital and then in bed for a few days. With a bladder infection my daily life was never affected (other than urinating).

Q: Back Pain from Kidney Infection Still HURTING ?
I went to the doctor last Saturday.
I was diagnosed with strep throat and kidney infection. I never knew i had anything wrong with my kidneys until now. They gave me antibiotics and I’ve been taking them but tomorrow is my last pill and i still have back pain. The pain is to the point i cant bend over to put my leg in my pants or sit here at the computer for long. I don’t know what the difference is between the computer and the couch but there’s a huge one to my back.. so can anyone tell me whats going on?

A: Sometimes it takes a couple rounds of medication before you feel completely better. You may need to go and get another prescription from your doctor!

Q: Kidney Infection.. still with back pain. ?
I went to the doctor last Saturday.

A: I had a severe kidney infection 2 years ago…HORRIBLE!! I had terrible back pain that lasted a while. I was vomiting a lot though and my doc said I could have pulled a muscle from dry heaving (Sorry for being graphic) Anyway, just take some advil for the pain, and if it lasts another week, go back to your doc! Good luck, feel better and DRINK WATER!!! haha. You know you get kidney infection generally from bladder infections and dehydration. Stay healthy!

Q: how do i know the difference between a muscle strain and kidney infection?
idk wat i have becuz i feel dizzy when standing i have a headache and my middle back hurts but idk if it’s a kidney or just a muscle see i can’t really move on that side that it hurts and i can’t breath deep becuz it hurts too..and yesterday i had a chest pain. and i’ve been having stomache pains and i have been feeling nausea’s i getting hot flashes with sweat but idk what is it! and sometimes i run out of breath! very easily
whats pulsating mass? …and i really haven’t checked my temperature although i should have

A: Do you have a fever or feel a pulsating mass anywhere on your back?

EDIT: To be honest, I’d need a lot of info to be able to tell you if you have a kidney problem. There’s lots of different symptoms associated with it, so it’s a better idea to just go straight to a doctor rather than typing out your whole history of present illness on here.

Q: Is the narcotic in oxycodone the same as codeine? Whats the difference between the two?
I have severe kidney infections mixed with a 4mm kidney stone. They gave me oxycodone and i just ran out. But i do have some tylenol with codeine left over from my back injury a few months ago. Now i just want to know if i take the tylenol with codeine will it pop up something different than oxycodone on a drug test? I need some help quick i am in alot of pain. So is codeine and oxycodone the same thing?

A: APAP Oxycodone is generic for Percocet. Unlesss specifed, it has no Codiene.

Q: i went to the er and the doctor said i have a uti.?
i was wanting to know whaT the difference is between a uti, kidney infection, & a bladder infection? my symtons include lower back pain, urgency, burning, pain. ands
some light ting of blood on the toliet paper, not alot, and very light, i also have a lil side pain on my right side ( the middel of my side). i have had uti’s before, can they make different symtons each time???

A: I am the person to ask. Not only am I in the medical field, but I have experienced all three of these conditions many times. 1) UTI-Urinary Tract Infection, consists of infections in your bladder, ureters, and urethra.(Not including the kidneys). 2)Bladder infection- consists of only an infection of the bladder. 3) Kidney infection(pyelonephritis) is an infection of the kidney, which also can include any of the above things as well. A UTI can usually be handled and treated without any problems by antibiotics and careful hygeine. You should stay away from baths and sexual intercourse until the antibiotics are gone and your Dr. has rechecked you to make sure that all signs of the infection are gone. If a UTI is left untreated it can lead to a kidney infection, which can become a very serious problem that can lead to hospitalization and renal(kidney failure). So be sure to drink plenty of fluids, H2O especially. Take your medicine as prescribed, and don’t forget to have a follow up appointment with your physician. Good Luck….I am not trying to give you medical advice, I am just trying to state some facts pertaining to the question you have asked. If you need advice then you need to contact a medical proffesional in your area.

Q: I had a UTI but now I have scabs ! HELP?
2 weeks ago i was diagnosed with a moderate-severe UTI and was prescribed Cifox tablets in 250mg. Before I was diagnosed I was experiencing a heavy discharge which was pretty much odourless which is different to my usual heavy discharge which has a strong smell but my doctor said that it is just hormones and i will grow out of it. (i am 15) The discharge was yellow-green in colour and I was experiencing itchiness on my vagina and between my bum cheeks. I researched online and came to the conclusion that i had a yeast infection so I started using canesten cream on it. I didn’t notice any change after a couple of days and I was still extremely itchy. 2 days after, I woke up with a sore throat and a pounding headache so I took some painkillers and then went to play golf. When I got home I went straight to bed with the headache. I then woke up to find that I had a 104 degree temperature. My dad called the doctor and he took a urine sample and said I had a severe kidney infection and prescribed me the antibiotics. The day I finished the antibiotics I began to get a pain in my back and front near the ureter so I went to my doctor who took another urine test and said I was clear but I was just tender after the infection. I then noticed that I had scabs between my legs and vagina. I wear a pantyliner everyday so it could just be that but I have been very sensitive in my vagina the past few days and I am still experiencing itchiness. I tried putting sudocrem on it but it doesn’t seem to make a difference and I am very uncomfortable. Please somebody help me! I’m about to go back to school and I don’t want to have to deal with this!

*Sorry it’s so long and detailed!

A: I’m really sorry you’re so uncomfortable. I think probably all of the irritation is from the cream you used initially for the yeast infection. That stuff has all sorts of chemicals in it, and you probably irritated the sensitive skin. If it’s still itchy you can try taking benadryl. It’s over the counter for allergies, but if your body is still reacting to the chemicals in the cream it should help. Your kidneys are located near your lower back, so the pain there is from the infection irritating them too. Make sure you drink lots of water and take it easy. Wearing loose fitting clothes will probably make you feel a little more comfortable too. Maybe wear skirts for a little while.

Q: shadow on lung on ct scan?
Hi my mum has had primary renal cancer in 2008 and had her right kidney removed it was a stage 3 cancer, she has twice sine then had secondaries in her liver the last met being 1 month go for which she had RFA treatment.

We went for a ct scan y’day and it showed the liver is clear again, but it has shown a small shadow at the bottom of her lung, the Dr first asked how she was and when she said she had been treated for a chest infection he said ‘i’m glad to hear that otherwise he was about to tell he had found a secondary met on her lung, but as she had been treated for a chest infection it must be that’, my concern is my mum has had this cough off and on since Jan, it is paining her in her chest even more so on lying down, but she is not unwell in her self e.g no temp. she had been bringing stuff up occasionally, but not green in fact most of the time it is clear, the G.P has been saying her chest sounds clear and only treated her with antibiotics cause its been going on so long, she finished the antibiotics 2 wks ago and she said it did ease it a bit, but the cough and pain has started to get worse again.

What i want to know is can a ct scan show the difference between cancer on the lung or infection, as like I said he did say he would of told us it was cancer if it wasn’t for the fact she had been treated for this chest infection(??), or is it likely that he does suspect cancer as he is bringing her back for another ct scan in 2/3 months instead of 6months.

A: That is a very strange thing for a doctor to say. They would be able to tell the difference between an infection and cancer and her doctor would not be making that call it would be the radiologist. Infection can sometimes appear shadow-like, but cancer doesn’t. He is having her come back in 2-3 months so that it can be compared to this CT and see if there are any changes.

A: Ask for the OFFICIAL radiologist interpretation. Terms such as “shadow” or “spot” are very nebulous and misleading. I would be very concerned whether or not this represented a metastatic lesion. It sounds like she has an oncologist, I would ask their opinion. It may be nothing but pneumonic infiltrates (ie from pneumonia or infection) usually appear much different than mass lesions or metastatic lesions on CT. Mets usually are very round with smooth borders and are solid. Renal cell carcinoma has a high prediliction for lung mets. Get the honest answers and deal with them.

Hope that helps

Q: Does anyone else feel a kind of stiffness or soreness in the liver?
Hello! I have sort of a strange and off the wall question, but I am a little concerned. I am hoping someone can help me out here please!

OK, 6 months ago I caught Hepatitis A from some jerk who cooked at a restaurant and did NOT wash his hands. He touched my plate and I was served contaminated food. Well, I went to the hospital and after a few weeks I recovered from the ordeal. It was no joke! I could have gotten another infection because I stayed at work and school so much! I was lucky nothing else happened!

Well, anyway… I never really did get my full appetite back yet. It’s been 6 months and only do I SOMETIMES feel hungry. I am never ’starving’ anymore. It is difficult to remember to eat, and since I am working full time again I almost forget every day.

Well, lately, for the past few weeks, I have been feeling some…. stiffness, if you will, right in the CENTER of the front of my body (under the breasts and between the ribs type area). As far as I am concerned I am only feeling my liver. It is a little stiff and sore to the right as well, but that once again is my liver.

I am 21 years of age, no drinking, no smoking, no drugs, no nothing! Ever! My sworn word! I have doctor records and everything! I am about 130 pounds and have what you may call a ‘pear’ shaped body. I eat maybe some soup, a few apples, tea, water, bananas, and cheese every other day or so. No microwaved meals or crappy fast food restaurants. But not really nutritional either I guess.

I am in a relatively good mood and I can not notice the stiffness it if I am busy or working. But it is just so curious to me why I feel this way!

I checked up with my doctor 2 weeks ago and got a blood test as well. He says he can’t find anything wrong and that my liver enzymes have completely returned to normal.

A little gas, but nothing too different. I feel VERY small pains in my kidneys as well, but I could just easily compare them to any other little pains I have felt my whole life. If I gently push into the center of my body a little… then I can feel my liver act up again and is a little sore. I did gain some weight after the Hepatitis A, but that’s because I couldn’t exercise with the nausea at the time. I was 125 pounds now I am 130 pounds . Not much difference o_0.

I was wondering if anyone else feels this way as well??? Even a little? It would help if you ever caught Hepatitis A as well so maybe I could relate to you a little better. If not, then can anyone shed any light??? Please??? I am just very curious, that’s all! But I would still LOVE an answer! Thank you!

A: Hepatitis will really clang your liver good… Fortunately the liver can heal itself better than just about any other organ. It just needs time, and good nutrition.

A couple of things that might help… Vitamin E will help newly formed scar tissue/fibrosis to resolve and Lecithin will help the liver clean itself by promoting bile production / flow.

Eat a well balanced diet and drink plenty of fluids and you’ll be back to normal in a few more months.

Good Luck & GodSpeed

Q: Pains in areas where my liver, right ribs and kidneys are, swollen and extremely hot in that area…?
This is a detailed description because I want to get as much advice as possible because Im afraid of what it could be.

I noticed quite a few months ago now, maybe over 6 months ago that my right side (like my ribs or maybe under or just underneath) were sticking out slightly or swollen compared to my left, jsut noticable by touching, I forgot about it then a few months later it started to get tender and I sometimes got a dull aching there and up and down my right side, then sometimes pain in my lower back, at the hospital they just gave me some antibiotics for a ‘urine’ infection. A few days ago I noticed that my right ribs were still slightly prominent compared to my left and that general area seemed swollen, then over the last few days it has started aching again, around the rib area, situated mostly just below my right ribs and my right ribs are especially tender when touched. The pain is getting worse and has now spread to a dull aching pain up and down my right side, sometimes I get a small sharp shock of pain, like splinters of pain in my right ribs and every now and then in my side, and it also feels slightly like pins and needles in my lower right side, roughly where my liver is but this pain doesnt feel too deep its closer to the surface. I dont seem to be having any other symptoms, some lower back ache. I went to the hpspital and they have booked me in for an ultra sound scan in a few days but now the area feels more swollen and is very warm compared to other parts of me to. Im so afraid that it could be a tumor under my skin but maybe Im just being stupid? Should I go for the scan? what does an ultra sound scan pick up? and what do you think it could be considering what I described? Im on my period now and it just seemed to get worse with that also but it may be a coincidence? How do I tell the difference between a muscle strain, and ulcer and a tumor? Im so confused and afraid. I’d appreciate any advice.

A: I definitely would have the ultrasound done.
With the ultrasound, they can view the liver,
the biliary area under the liver, the gallbladder,
the kidneys, and the ducts from the kidneys
to the bladder and even the bladder.
It depends on whether they are asking for
the liver (hepatitic) or kidney (renal)area to be viewed.

If the liver is enlarged in size…it could be
that there is damage to the liver cells, and
inflammation has developed in the liver.
This can be treated if they find out the cause…
the cause could be alcohol consumption,
medication toxification, chemical exposure,
hereditary conditions, fatty liver disease,
viral infections, parasitic infections,
auto immune disease, mushroom poisoning,
and others.

However, this could be a gallbladder problem,
if stones have started to develop inside the
gallbladder and have moved into the ducts.
Or if a growth of some sort has developed
in these ducts or an infection. Anything
that would block the flow of the bile coming
from the liver..can cause discomfort and
pain that may come and go.

It could also be a pulled muscle. It is hard
to tell for certain because pain is a symptom
of something being wrong.

An ultrasound will show how well the blood is
flowing through the liver and if there are any
cysts/cancer tumors/benign growths.

They would also be able to see if the kidney
has any stones or cysts/growths.
Usually, they can tell if the infections has
gone up to the kidneys or have stayed in
the bladder area by doing urine testing and
also blood testing to see your white cell count.

I hope this has helped you and that it isn’t
anything serious. Best wishes

A: If the skin feels hot to the touch, then a localized infection may be present, possibly in your appendix. The appendix is in the exact area that you are describing (right side below the ribs). You may have an inflamed appendix, which is potentially quite dangerous.

Your condition requires medical evaluation. Do not delay

Q: constant chest/rib pain???costochondritis??
ive had this almost moving chest pain for a few months. it seems to be muscular because it hurts most when i press on my ribs or into my boobs. right now the pain is in the upper right area and in my lower left boob(again more rib pain when i press here) ive had blood work, ecg, xrays, and was at the doc 2 weeks ago, at that point the pain was fully under my left boob, and she said it was a pulled muscle. i havent lifted anything heavy since n why would the pain move if it was a pulled muscle. for the most part it is just uncomfortable, but hurts when pressure is applied, and is quite constant. im not too worried about my heart as it doesnt increase if i extert myself..just wondering does this sound like costochondritis to anyone who has it?? i would really appreciate any help
thank you for your answers…in response to the first lady its not that it doesnt hurt when i dont press on it, its just that it hurts more when i do. i just wanna thank you again, sometimes just getting reassurance makes you feel a lot more secure(i have anxiety issues as well which makes this worse sometimes) thanks again

A: Hiya I have been going though the exact same thing for the last 6 months. I had a rib out of place on top of everything else…something you might want to get checked out because it didn’t show up on the multiple x-rays that I had. I got a lot better when that was taken care of but I just started a new job and am at a new desk and a new chair so the costocondritis is flareing again. The only advice I can give is wait and prolly get a script for the anxiety (sorry, at work and spelling sucks) because the thing that sucks the most about this condition is the fact that nothing can be done besides treat the symptoms and I know I started to freak out because its taking so long to heal. but bottom line is it sounds exactly like costocondritis…email anytime if you wanna complain! enchanted_mydnight@yahoo.com

Q: Why do I get chest/rib pain when I exercise?
When I was young I was quite good at most sports and particularly long distance running. I did a lot of sports including horse riding, competition aerobics, badminton and netball.

When I was about 14 I began to get chest pains when I exercised. They still occur and I am now 18. The pain is like a constrictive tight pain. Sometimes it is on both sides of my rib cage just below my sternum, other times my sternum (sp?) hurts. If I breathe very shallowly it does not hurt at all. I have never had asthma before and I had chest x-rays but there were no irregularities or anything.

Why does this happen and how can I make it stop?

A: i get this too and i’m quite an athletic person as well. i think its because of the lungs, some sort of a fluid build up, and your lungs cant get rid of it. i think its best to see a doctor, but mine usually happen when i bench press and then go out in cold weather without wearing properly. so keep you chest warm and wear properly. also, make sure your room has a good temperature and its not humid.

Q: Rib/chest pain while/after running?
Is this normal. I’ve been excersizing and it’s not like this is the first year of running or anything. I’ve been running in gym all the time ya know? But for the past year in a half I always get this horrible rib pain right below my chest and it always slows me down because it hurts so much. It usually stops after 20minutes of not running. What’s wrong with me? I’m drinking enough water.

Age:16
Gender:female
Height: 5ft 4.5inches
Weight:112lbs
fat %: 22

What’s going on?

Water amount: 1gallon at least and not all at once.
I do deep breathing and the doctor already checked my blood pressure and everything a month ago.
This always happens like 5minutes of running. I have gym for two quarters of every year in Highschool that it’s been happening.

A: You’re not breathing right, you need to take DEEP breaths while you’re running. I know this because my brother is in the Coast Guard and that (the deep inhalation, breathing) stopped my side chest pains.

Q: Chest Pain, Rib Pain?
About nine days ago, I woke up with really bad back/rib pain and I went to the ER. They did an X-Ray and said they didn’t find anything, so just told me to rest and take ibuprofen. A week later, the back pain has diminished a decent amount, but I am constantly having pain in my chest on the left side, causing sometimes 5 minute prolonged pain in my heart, and on the right side of my chest, causing my lung to hurt as well, sometimes from breathing too deeply or from nothing at all.

I also feel some acute pain in my left and right ribs right in these areas. The X-Ray found nothing and the doctor I went to says I just need rest, but I feel the pain is only continuing. I have no insurance, so I am paying for every visit out of pocket, so I was wondering if anyone had any idea what could be going on? I am feeling pretty hopeless right now. Thanks to all in advance for any help.

A: If you have shortness of breath, I would be worried about it and go back to the ER. But if you don’t, then try and relax and wait it out. Take 800 mgs. of ibuprofen (prescription strength) Have you done anything strenuous that would cause a pulled muscle?

I have also had collapsed lungs and the drs don’t always pick it up on the xray. One way to tell for sure is to stand up and then bend over at the waist like you are touching your toes. Then stand back up straight. If you feel ANYTHING in your upper chest move (like a bubble, for example) you have a collapsed lung. If you don’t feel anything, you are ok. This works everytime. Good luck.

A: It sounds like a muscle strain/pull. I have had it happen to me before just by turning my neck wrong. I was prescribed muscle relaxers and ibuprofen and it went away after a few days. I tried to ignore it for about a week before I broke down and went to see my physician.

No “quick fix” I’m afraid.

Q: Does anybody know the cause of my chest/rib pain?
It hurts in the middle of my left side of my chest, right above where my chest becomes the breast, and the left side of my ribs hurt all the way down to the last one. I wouldn’t say one hurts more than the other, they just throb at different times. I used to get this pain a couple times a month, but within the past couple weeks it’s hurt more than a few times. I’m going to the doctor tomorrow anyway for something unrelated, but It’s killing me now. Just wanted an opinion.

A: Do you think it’s indigestion or gas? Gas in the body can cause some weird pains sometimes. It has happened to me before.

Q: front rib pain, chest pain, arm and shoulder pain…costochondritis/tietze syndrome?
One morning I woke up and i had severe chest pain and it radiated down my right arm and was also in my shoulder…i went and had my BP taken by an emt and they told me they didn’t think i was having heart problems because my BP was normal. The last year or so the front of my ribs on both sides have been tender to the touch and the pain is worsened by activity. I went to the doctor and they believed my T4 rib was locking up so I have been to the chiropractor 5 times and have been adjusted. The pain hurts almost constantly but worse with activity. My arm hurts like i have muscle fatigue and my shoulder shoulder hurts. i have some random chest pains during certain activity and pain increases when i take deep breaths. do you think this could be costochondritis/tietze syndrome?

A: If you have had any respiratory infections or chest trauma, especially surgery, you are very vulnerable to costochondritis. IV drug use also makes you more susceptible. Normally, however, it resolves itself, and a case should not last a year, unless you have infectious (as opposed to non-infectious) costochondritis. Ask if your insurance company covers a gallium scan, if you do not react to reduced activity and NSAID therapy. If there is no swelling, and is affecting your 4th or 5th ribs, it is more likely than not costochondritis. Bear in mind that if it is infectious and does not respond to antibiotics and NSAID therapy, you may require steroid shots, IV antibiotics, and if that fails, surgical repair/removal of the affected tissue.

I doubt it is Tietze syndrome as it is a very rare disorder, and most likely not the cause of your pain. It more commonly affects the 2nd and 3rd ribs at the cartilage, and not the lower ribs. If you have localized swelling where the pain is (around the sternum) you very well may be looking at Tietze, and discuss the possibility with your doctor. Keep in mind that it is very rare and is usually resolved on its own.

Q: For about a year now, ever since my mom passed away, i have gotten sharp chest pain, rib pain and back pain.?
The doctor has given me 3 ekg’s, and chest x-rays, and they all were normal-this pain comes and gos and i cant really find a trigger other than stress-lately ive gotten sudden warmness or cold sensations through out my body-ive taken stress meds and anxiety pills, but they dont help-does anyone even know what this sounds like?ive also been diagnosed with acid reflux.

A: It sounds like they already ruled out any heart abnormalities with the ekgs and chest xray, sort of, but you should really have a STRESS TEST–that is a medical test where they have you walk briskly on a treadmill while they monitor your heart-with blood pressure, ekg rhythm strips and pulse monitor. Then they inject a drug into your system and take pictures of your heart–the difference between having this stress test and you just having regular EKG’s, is that the stress test actually shows how your heart is reacting to STRESS- in the form of exercise. The doctor will bring your heart rate up to it’s maximum capacity–which is based on your age, and then the pictures will show how your heart is reacting to it.

My condolences on the loss of your mom–that is both physical and mental stress on you, and you really should have an exercise stress test to really rule out any heart abnormalities that could be causing your symptoms. If the stress is completely normal–then I suggest you see a good internist and have them do a thorough work up on you–blood tests to make sure nothing else is going on. Sometimes a severe trauma, like the loss of a loved one, triggers an illness to surface which you already had but the symptoms were not progressed yet. Stress triggers a multitude of physical problems and prolonged stress is the worst.

Good luck to you — I hope everything works out and turns out okay. If you check out completely physically, then you at least know there isn’t anything serious going on with you.

A lot of people won’t do this, but it really will help you–is to see a psychologist regarding your loss. Mental stress can cause physical pain as well, but like I said above, make sure everything REALLY IS okay physically first……..

Q: 14 and 2 weeks prego chest pain and rib and side pain?
k my cuz is 14 and 2-3 weeks prego she is haveing lower rib pain her side hurts when s he pushes on it! and she says her chrest hurts when she briths deep…
she is all ready shwoing

her bf is 18 and she is 14 he wants ehr to get a AB but she will not do it!

what shoudl she tell ehr parents and she will get kikked out

plzzzz telll

A: This has to be a joke.

First, 2 weeks is too early to find out.

Second, she can’t be showing so early!

Q: I have been having chest pain and pain near rib area. What should i do?
Usually the pain is sharp and could last a couple of minutes. If i move with the pain, it gets worse.

A: Any type of chest pain should Not be ignored…. you can have a heart attack at any time. If you are 30 or older I would definately go to the Emergency Room. Younger I might wait alittle while to see if it subsided but if not you need to go too…
It could also be bad indigestion, Take a couple of tums or rolaids. If it gets better thats good if not, again go to the Doc…
It could also be a Virus that you have picked up from some where. You might have a stomach ulcer, which also needs med. attention. hope you are better real soon!

Q: chest and rib pain any body know what it might be besides stress?
why do i get sharp pains in mostly my ribs but also in my chest? the doctors say its stress but i think its something else any idea what it might be?

A: hi, yeh i kinda have the same problem, my doctor said that its your ribs pinching your lungs or something. its not dangerous or anything it just occationally hurts. either that or your having heart problems.

Q: chest/rib pain while running?
last night after running I got a horrible pain in my chest/rib area, I felt (for lack of a better word) tingly and my vision went a little blurry. I almost panicked and called 911 until I threw up and felt fine? I have had this feeling before (minus the vomiting and less severe) My question is… what is causing this pain and how can I avoid it in the future? I would like to know what is going on with my body when this happens? Thanks!!!

A: sounds to me like you need to see a doctor.

Q: I took water pills and now i’ve been having chest/rib pain?
i was bloated on my period so i took water pills for 5 days (1 a day) since then, i have been having aching, almost like a sore feeling, in my rib area and sometimes a little higher. (not heart though) sometimes my head/back of my neck hurt as well. i know i only took 5 pills, but i’m afraid it may have caused something. it may not be the pills at all though…it could just be a weird coincidence. thoughts on this?

A: Periods can be weird like that, don’t blame the pills.
Just get some more rest and you should be fine.

Q: what does it mean when i breathe in i have a chest pain and my rib hurts when i lift my hand ?
i’ve been sick with the stomach flu for three days so i’ve been sleeping nonstop, and this morning i woke up with a pain where when i laugh it hurts and when i breathe in also. so also my back and my left rib has been aching could this be for sleeping to much ? not enough excercise ?

A: Those are signs of pinched muscles in your back. When pinched in the rib area they get more pressure on them when you breath because of your ribs moving outward which pinches them more. It is probably in your back where you feel the pain. You do have to release the muscles to get rid of the pain. Here’s how to release them:
Back:
(do from a sitting position)
Place your left hand on your left leg next to your body. Place your right hand over your left shoulder and find the muscles next to your spine and press on them and hold. After 30 seconds slowly lower your body forward and to the outside of your left leg, keeping your left arm fairly straight as you do. When you reach your lap remain there for another 10 seconds, release the pressure but rest there for another 30 seconds. Then reverse your hand positions and do your right side.

Q: rib/chest pain.. what is this?
i have had a cough for 3 weeks now. the worst cough i have ever had. it will be in spells of over 10 coughs and its hard to breathe. last night i had a huge “cough attack” and it hurt badly. this morning i woke up had to cough. when i did this pain on the side of my upper rib cage hurt so bad i had to hold in my coughs (which is hard). the pain is like a stabbing pain it goes from right above my hips to right below my bust. any idea what this is? when i cough in the 10+ spells, at the end it makes this weird noise and i start gagging. idk what this is.
could it be whooping cough?

A: It can be a muscle pain due to the excessive coughing. But talking to a doctor is not a bad idea.

Q: Cervical Rib?
Why do some people have cervical ribs? What makes them painful?

Please don’t reply if you don’t know.

A: everyone has cervical ribs that protect your spine and your neck, i dont know why its painful you must of done something to twerk them

Q: what are the chances of my kids having a cervical rib ?
I have a cervical rib on the left side of my spinal column. Just one. Neither of my parents have one, its just me. My partner doesnt have any cervical ribs either. What are the chances of my children having cervical ribs?

A: Cervical ribs do not appear to be inherited, so your children would have the usual chance for a random cervical rib, which is less than 1%.

Q: What are symptoms of cervical rib?
Does it cause your hand to go numb and if so what do you have to do to treat it, take pain medicine?

A: I found this definition for cervical rib…

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cervical_rib

And then this for TOS. Hope it helps…

http://www.ecentral.com/members/rsanders/

Q: What is a small leftsided cervical rib?
Just wondering what this is , it showed up on a Xray that I just had that was accompanied by a MRI, that found a bulging cervical disc in the C5/6.

A: It’s just a tiny extra rib on the left side near your neck. Nothing to worry about. People have extra ribs and extra vertebrae (6 lumbar instead of 5).

Q: I Have a sore arm, is it related to my Cervical Rib?
i had an x ray ages ago and the doc said i had cervical rib and that it wasnt a problem and is quite uncommon. i read up about it but i read that it can put pressure on a vein in ur arm and my arms get sore from time to time like maybe once or twice a month. does anyone else have this. do u think it is related to my cervical rib???

A: Certainly a cervical rib can produce the so called “thoracic outlet syndrome” with symptoms like pain, numbness or tingling of the upper limb. Symptoms are often vague and general and may affect the whole arm. There may be a painful neck and headache too. In general is the result of compression of the neurovascular structures to your upper arm at the root of the neck or the upper thorax. The best thing to do is to see a neurologist to perform a good physical exam and evaluate any neurologic deficits. There are many other reasons to have a sore arm once a month and thoracic outlet syndrome is probably very low in that differential. If your symptoms are from time to time you may get away with keeping and eye in position related symptoms and avoid such positions.

Q: Cervical Rib/ Thoracic Outlet Syndrome Pain?
I have a cervical rib on my left side. I’ve experienced pain in my neck and arm for the past year but now the pain effects the the entire left side of my torso and also I have a swollen gland (?) under my left shoulder blade. Does any one have the same symptoms or any advice. Thank you!!!

A: Hi,

If you suffering with neck pain, I recommend you should try cervical traction. Cervical traction is often used for persons suffering from neck pain. Cervical traction are an excellent therapy for help in relieving neck pain by causing a gentle stretch to the muscles and joints.

More info about cervical traction at

Thanks

Q: What is the quickest treatment for Cervical Rib?

A: Cervical rib: A supernumerary (extra) rib which arises from the seventh cervical vertebra. It is located above the normal first rib. A cervical rib is present in only about 1 in 200 (0.5%) of people. It may cause nerve and artery problems.

There are normally 12 pairs of ribs in all. Each pair of ribs is attached to the building blocks of the spine (the vertebrae) in the back. The 12 normal pairs of ribs consist of:

True ribs: The first seven ribs attach to the sternum (the breast bone) in the front and are known as true (or sternal) ribs.
False ribs: The lower five ribs do not directly connect to the sternum and are known as false ribs.
The presence of a cervical rib means the individual has 13 ribs: 1 cervical rib + 7 true ribs + 5 false ribs = 13 ribs.

The problem is???????

Q: Cervical Rib,.. sore neck issue?
Went to the docs and he said that the lump thing i was woried about for weeks waas a cervical rib,.. nothing serious,.. he gave me SOMA,.. muslce relaxer to take if the pain gets THAT bad,.. Been takin tylenol/ advil/ motrin in the meantime cause i work alot,.. Cant afford to be sleepy when i need to be making money,.. anyways when i swollow food or drink it feels like the muscles got pulled or something,.. it just feels a little wierd and sometimes my ear will pop randomly too eversince this bone came up,. the left side of my neck towards the back hurs,.. it feels like its pulled muscles,.. I dunno.. I dunno if the cervical rib caused my insides to shift over a bit?.. …..any ideas what this could be? Should i wait a few weeks to see what happens? help plase

A: I think you mean clavical. Cervical has to do with the cervix of the female body.

I’d have them to check to make sure it’s not dislocated or fracture. This will feel the same and will hurt. Check w/your doctor for an x-ray

Q: how safe is it to remove a cervical rib by surgery?

A: Surgery (the only way I know of to remove any rib) is relatively safe. Complications can arise based on location of arteries and major nerve bundles, but then that is frequently the motivation for the surgery in the first place (e.g., to relieve partial paralysis due to compression).

Q: Please explain thoracic outlet syndrome due to cervical rib?

A: Cervical ribs extra ribs on the last cervical vertebral body. They can cause mass effect against the subclavian artery or vein or brachial plexus. This can lead to clots in the vessels and pain. TOS can also be caused by other congenital anomalies or trauma. True TOS can be fixed by surgery

Q: 7th cervical rib, what type of developement error is it?what is the developement prosses of this?

A: I’m an x-ray tech, and I’ve seen that now and again. It’s not really an “error”, just an anomoly that happens from time to time…some people are born with an extra lumbar vertebra, some people’s aortic arch/vessel location is different than the norm, etc….Nothing to worry about at all…I do wonder if genetics has anything to do with it, or if it’s just a matter of chance.

Q: Cervical Rib Management – Physiotherapy? or Surgery?
Hi,
I’m 36 years old, female, teacher suffering from neck, shoulder and hand pain for the last 6 months. X-ray: Bilateral large complete cervical ribs, Nerve conduction study: Normal. MRI: No disc problems.
Adson’s test: Negative. I underwent Physiotherapy (Ultra sound, IFT, Trigger point release, Stretching exercises etc) for about 2 weeks. But pain and discomfort still persists. I couldn’t do over head activities (writing in notice board etc., paper corrections, washing ect.) Even at rest also I have pain especially fingers.
Physician suggested to go for decompression surgery.
Kindly help me out.
Thanking you

-Uma Shankar

A: it seems that your brechial plexus is involved, ultra sound IFT wil not help you much cause it will try to supress the pain without removing the cause for the pain.
you go for Intermittent cervical traction (ICT) fo 3 alternate days, but be careful when taking ICT, if you feel any giddiness or blurred vision or exaggeration of your symptoms ask the doc to stop the ICT immediately.don’t be over precautious, ICT if given properly is a very safe treatment.
second you go for neural tissue mobilisation, such as ULTT, with stretching of all soft tissues around neck bilaterally.
the treatment duration should be of just 6 days, if you don’t get any significant relief in 6 days then go for surgery.
don’t be over enthusiastic, be patient don’t expect miraculous changes in 6 days, there should b a good relief only.
good luck

Q: Is bilateral cervical rib fracture lethal?
Patient has no deficiency ..

A: cervical rib is a rare condition ,normally everyone has thoarcic ribs ,an extra rib arising from a cervical vertebrae is non functional ,if its fractured as long it doesnt damge any surrounding structures its ok

Q: Will it affect my aviation medical exam if I have an extra cervical rib and a straight neck(Military Neck)?

A: No, the doctor won’t even find the extra (?) rib, and most likely won’t be concerned with your neck unless you point it out.

Q: Can drinking coffee really hurt your pancreas and kill you?
Because my friend’s mom who is a health nut told my dad that drinking coffee can hurt your pancreas and possibly kill you is this true? because i read and heard somewhere that some coffee is very healthy for you

A: your friends mom is misinformed. the medical literature shows that coffee can actually reduce your risk of pancreatitis.

Q: If your pancreas hurt, why does it hurt then? What can be done to further prevent it?

A: Pancreatitis. See you doctor for meds.

Q: what causes your pancreas???
What is your best bet to know something is going wrong with your pancreas?

My stools have been floaters for says. IMy stomach hurts bad, it way bloated, and the pain goes into my back too.
Can you help me?

A: Sounds more like gall bladder than pancreas to me, and I have trouble with both. Your doctor can tell you for sure with a quick exam and easy blood test.

Good luck!

Q: Working out your abs after an enflamed Pancreas?
Can anyone offer any advice on when is an appropiate amount of time to work out your abs after an attack of pancreatitis. I was in the hospital about 2 and half weeks ago for a week, and want to start working out again, but every time i do about 10 crunches, I start to feel it and don’t want to hurt it again.

A: The area around your pancreas probably got inflamed also. As you found out, that area doesn’t tolerate pain well at all. I would just go easy and let everything heal up. Try some different ab exercises for a while, one that do not mash in on your abs would be best. The plank is a good one, you can read about it here:

http://sportsmedicine.about.com/od/abdominalcorestrength1/qt/plank.htm

It would take you virtually no time at all to find the answers there.

Q: Do I have appendicitis? ….PLEASE HELP?
Okay here are the details…

Thursday night after eating dinner , I threw up approximately
3 hours later. My body hurt and I began to have sharp pains (like knife strikes) on my RIGHT side (side of stomach between BELOW chests and right across my belly button -approx 4 inches to the side).

I threw up once more at 11:00 and from that point on, I was in pain I almost couldn’t bare.

Now you might ask why I didn’t go to the hospital and it is because I currently do not have insurance. I have always had insurance with my job but this year has been rough.

I had surgery in January 2007 due to my Gall Bladder being removed and it went sucessfully and since then I have not felt pain like this. In fact this has been the WORST PAINFUL thing I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED ….EVER!!!

The following day( don’t know how I made it through the night) I would try to sip 7UP and chicken broth but everything thing that went down made me feel ill.–ACTUALLY MADE THE PAIN WORSE…

I was dizzy with food, drink and did not want anything!

My side continued to hurt and still does but has died down just a bit.

I usually lay on my right side but since I got sick I am unable to. It now has been 3 days ( in a few hours) and I still have pain on the right side.

Today was the first day I was able to eat mild food like Brown rice ( plain) but the pain continues….It hurts when I cough or breathe deep. My chest also hurts at times. My back started to hurt but it was nothing compared to my stomach.

I have been weak and tired and overall worn out but today has been the best day ever where I can actually walk from room to room without felling faint or wanting to fall over.

I did call the hospital and they said I could apply for emergency Medical as I currently do not have insurance ( due to relocating -separation from job)

My friend advises me that I really need to be checked because it could be a number of things: appendicitis, Pancreas, stones……who knows!!!!

All I know is that I have came to my senses and decided to go to the dr ASAP tomorrow even if it is the ER. Of course I will go if the pain gets worse (INTENSE)

I would not have decided to go if it wasn’t for my friend sharig soe stories of real people who were sick and almost died…

Anyone out there …..can you tell me what this may be? Anyone have//had this issue??

WHAT IS ON OUR RIGHT SIDE OF THE BODY??

Anyone that can help……..I would appreciate it???

Please share your stories…good or bad

Any help will be appreciated!!!!! =)
Thanks,
I am seeming to receive a lot of rude a** answers from those with no brains and just want to get points…..MY PROMISE IS THAT I WILL REPORT VIOLATORS!!!!!!!!!

KEEP RUDE CRAP TO YOURSELF–ONLY ANSWER IR YOU HAVE SOMETHING NICE TO SAY!!!!!

A: I hope by now you are feeling better. You did not mention fever..however..Usually when you are having an appendicitis attack you will have high fevers to go along with it.

I do have some concerns being your gull bladder has been removed. This could be a simple stomach virus or something else. You wont know until you are seen by a doctor.

Please keep this in mind…
even if you do not have insurance the law states an emergency room cannot send you away. If you have an $60-$100 you can go to a walk in clinic and save your self big money in the long run. If none of this works for you and it is appendicitis it could burst and cost you your life.

Words I know that are hard to read from someone you don’t know.
Try this until you make up your mind…

Q: can you link me to a good, acupressure ear chart with the points and what part of the body they are linked to?
also I went to an Asian festival this week and a stand was putting beads in people/s ear. They gave me 6 beads for various problems and the ones for the glands (I am having thyroid, adrenal and pancreas problems) are in the inside of the ear about in the middle and when I press it hurts tremendously I can;’t bear the pain for more than 10-15 seconds. why is it hurting there so much..the others hurt when pressed but not so intensely.

Is this because it hurts when the gland/areas of the body it represents that it is on is bad and malfunctioning or is it just the area of the ear the beads are placed on is an unusually sensitive area in general. I had heard if an area s sore work it with pressurebut this is REALLY sore.

also what is that paint like white stuff they use that hols the beads on your ear points for day..do you know what it is called or where to buy it

so my questions are

1 where online is a good ear acupressure chart with the points. Link please

2 why is it so sensitive in that area she said was for the glands on my ear

3 what is that stuff they hold the tiny acupressure beads on with

4 has anyone had success with acupressure..she said one place is going to open for acupuncture/pressure with a sliding scale..would you think this could improve my health which is not that hot this past year. Would it be worth going to.
note on question 3 the beads they put on are plastic they said so it is not held on by mini magnets. It looks like white glue or paint or something

thanks for the ear chart

I am still hoping to get others maybe with moire detail and points as some of the ones she put on are not on that chart
yes I am familiar with eft tapping and may add that but I became intrigued after attending the Asian festival and having these beads put on my ear and the chance maybe to try acupuncture if the new place is really on a sliding scale..before that it was out of my reach so I did not learn much on it. but do know some on acupressure.
I found out from a lady at my raw food potluck who uses acupressure in her treatment center that the pain is due to the organ being bad and when the pain at the acupressure ear site lessons it means the organ is getting better.

Also saw the bead and they can be gotten at any craft store and I had magnet tape that will stick them on. I also found some good charts I had in a box and apparently copied off internet a long time ago that were pretty detailed.

A: Hello Janie, Greetings! The following is the answer to your queries.
1. the link is:- http://health.indianetzone.com/acupressure/1/ear_point.htm
(please note it is underscore after ear) i.e. /1/ear_point.htm
2. Usually points which hurt are the ones to be treated gently until such time that the point
stop hurting you and becomes less sensitive, which is an indication that healing has taken
place.
3. Usually they are micro magnets.
4. It takes patience and time to stimulate the points and then get healed which could be taxing
so my suggestion would be to do Acu-tapping which is popular as EFT and you could get
details of it on www.mercola.com and type in search as EFT- Emotional Freedom Technique
which will give you all the details.
Good luck and God bless. Cheers! )

Question 24
Mandatory license plate revocation is ineffective against drunk driving.

True X
False

O and some of you that already just answered me Thanx a FREAKING LOT!!!

A: YES!

Q: my kitten passed away in a very unusual manner?
i had a siamese, and she was 7 weeks old. my boyfriend gave her to me as an anniversary gift in oct 24th. and from that day, she was sick and i knew inside. she was having this terrible diarreah problem and it was like straight liquid but it was light brown in color.

she had this thing where when we had food she would start srceaming and get violent to get to the food. she would eat and eat and eat and eat untill she would throw up. but then she would have diarreah and it’s like she would poop about 10 minutes after she ate, every time. it was awful.

so we took her to the vet and the vet said there is nothing wrong and she is too young to eat cat food, and he had us make her twice steamed brown rice with chicken stock and squash. so we did. 6 times a day we came home form school to make her food and give it to her. (college students).

and omg she was so skinny and i thought it was just because she was so young. she weighed 1.5. pounds at the vet that day.

and she would sleep ALL the time. i know, people say kittens are like babies and sleep alot, but is it normal for a kitten to have never played because it sleeps all day unless it’s eating or pooping?

well on nov 16th, 3 weeks later i went to my moms for the night and my boyfriend was left alone with the kitten. he did the same routine as normal, but this night went differently. around 2:15 am bella (the kitten) started pooping non stop all over the bed and the smell woke him up. so he picked her up and put her in the litter box and he saw that her hind quarters werent working and she was still pooping. so he put her in a blanket and rushed her to the emergency vet clinic.

now remember, we got her at a pets and pals and they said she was perfectly healthy.

so when she was at the vet they wanted to run some blood tests, but because she was so small and skiny when they drew blood it stopped her heart so they did CPR to bring her back. her blood test came back as she was diabetic. and the vet was telling him that she had a pancreas disease that was making the pancreas not absorb nutrients and that she was starting and dying of thirst. they weighed her and she was 3/4 of a pound.(this is less than a week after the other vet appointment). it was horrible, so he and the vet knew she was going to die unless she had extensive surgery so he opted to have her put to sleep to avoid any pain for her. and what is so cool about all this, is we have other kittens at home, and we saw some pet psychic show and it said that you can communicate i love you to your pets by blinking at them 3 times ina row. so we tried it with our 2 older kittens, and strangely they blinked 3 times back! it was the weirdest thing, they would start purring and cuddling after that too. who knows maybe they just like blinking. but my boyfriend told bella it was ok for her to go to sleep now, and she looked at him and blinked 3 times and closed her eyes and never opened them again. the vet took her to the back to euthanize her to make sure she was gone so she wasnt suffering anymore.

what i am confused about is, what really happened? what was really wrong with her? she was my pride and joy and i loved her so much. she went everywhere with me. i mean seriously, i would get up at 11pm 2am and 4 am to give her HOME MADE food. even now, with the 2 new kittend we just got last week, i am still sick to my stomach about this and it is hard for me to eat or drink anything still. i know the pain will pass with time but i just want to know what happened to my bella boo. i want to know why the pet store didnt tell us. they ran a full blood test on her and all the other kittens in the litter and said they were all perfectly fine, and then made my bf sign something saying if she gets sick they are not responsible… i am so hurt by this i am just now able to come here and write to see if someone might know what happened inside my bella.

A: I’m so sorry, what a sad thing to happen!!! You got her at a pet store? Did they give you documentation of the blood tests they ran? I’m sorry to say that pet stores sell sick kittens all the time. I know from experience, it happened to me twice. My last kitten was malnourished, had worms and an infection somewhere in her body when I got her. It took 7 trips to the vet to get her well. After buying her, I found out she was a stray someone brought in! I do not trust pet stores at all anymore. The lady at this pet store said that all kittens are inspected and that she knows how to give a health exam. But while in her store, (just looking, I’ll never buy anything from her again) someone brought in a couple kittens, and she just took them and put them in the display case. No Exam, she didn’t even check for ear mites like she assured me that she always does. Some people are just born liars. It sounds really suspicious that they made your boyfriend sign a release form. I am sure if they really did do a full blood work on her they would have found the diabetes. Maybe they did, but did not disclose it to you. Talk about Dishonest!!! Good pet stores will give you a free exam after buying a kitten. Or if you want to get another kitten, try a humane society, they usually pay for the kitten’s first exam. Again, Sorry about Bella, It doesn’t take long to get attached especially when you pamper them like it sounds like you did.

Q: Gallbladder Disease or Stones?
Here’s the quick version of my story!

For the past 14 months I have had 5 “attacks.” I call these attacks, because I am not in pain on a regular basis. I have gotten woke up out of the blue, in the middle of the night (only once did it happen during the day) with SEVERE pain in my stomach/front. It’s it a peircing pain, that seems to start up high, and just flood my complete front – side to side, top to bottom. Nothing makes the pain go away. It always goes away in about an hour. Most times I end up sick in the bathroom with diarrehea/vomiting/sweaty/hot. The next day I feel like someone beat me up in the stomach and bruised me up. Also I feel like I can’t hold in my stomach!
After attack #2, I went to our local Urgent Care the next day, they said they thought it was the onset of diverticulitis and saw the constipation in a xray. After attack 3 or 4 I realized I was most always menustrating at the times of these attacks. So, off to my gyno I go to see if it’s related.
It’s not – but they did find an ovarian cyst we’ll be taking care of – surprise! So my gyno sent me to get an Ultrasound of my Gallbladder, Liver, Pancreas, and right Kidney. I got that today, and will have my results in a few days. When the Ultrasound tech pushed right where my ribcage connects, kind of pushing up and underneath, from the middle towards my right, it hurt! She asked me if there was pain in that spot, and seemed to spend some time there in a small area.

When she checked under my right side ribcage, no pain – or my right side towards my hip – no pain. But that spot right where my ribcage connects, felt like someone was pushing on a giant bruise! It’s kind of sore now after getting pushed on so hard. I don’t have pain there on a regular basis, only when she was doing that ultrasound.

Could this be the sign of a bad gallbladder or stones? Is this where the gallbladder is located? Tell me your story. Thanks in advance!

A: see a doctor since it sounds like more than just stones.

Q: Where may I find Bible verses on the following?
Someone on facebook was aying very EVIL hurtful things to my god daughter about she whines too much, this person WAS a friend, shes on meds for her pancreas, liver etc this same person in her long ranted msg said to her things like “Now I know why yoour husband treated you the way he did” and he beat her {my god daughter], also she called her a crack head because shes skinny from being sick AND her husband had her on diets etc, this same person was even chewing her out just because she dresser her dog in pink…. geez I know its only a social networking site this happened on but my god daghter was in a BAD way after so I am looking for some bible verses for these people that hurt her so… about 15 yrs gdaughter tried to commit sicide and then again at 18 for depression, still born, and then bad marriage…

The person who did this is such an allegedly avid church goer and can allegedly forgive and loves jesus… YEAH RIGHT!!! I would compare her to the god warrior on wife swap… not so ugly but just as nutty … thanks guys in advance for your help!! OR where on facebook could these messages be turned in to like for a compaint? NO ONE should tell someone to go ahead and die

A: Matthew 23:33 “You snakes! You brood of vipers! How will you escape being condemned
to hell?”
.

Q: Do i have Pancreatitis ?
Well im pretty sure i have hurt my pancreatitis from drinking, i’ll make that clear from the start. I should start by saying im only 24 with no family history of pancreatitis. I had a heavy weekend of drinking last weekend because of some friends parties which led me to drink 2 days in a row and i consumed quite a bit. On the 3rd day i was pretty hungover and lay around all day. That evening i walked to the shop across the road but could hardly make it because of a stabbing pain around were my pancreas is located. I came back home and the stabbing pain persisted all night and i got quite worried and read up on the internet about pancreatitis from binge drinking. Anyways, the next morning it was pretty much gone. I’ve read all sorts of things on the internet like ‘that means you can never drink again!’. I’d like advice from someone who has experienced it – does this mean theres a possibility i can’t even sit down and have one or two beers?! That sounds pretty extreme to me – obviously im not planning on drinking that much again or binge drink, but i’d like to think im still ok to have a beer every now and then! Thanks for your time guys.

A: From what you have mentioned I am unable to understand if you have Pancreatitis. However I would like to give the following information from whcih you can assess the position and also consult your doctor for evaluation and treatment thereof-

Pancreatitis is an inflammation of the pancreas, an organ that is important in digestion. Pancreatitis can be acute (beginning suddenly, usually with the patient recovering fully) or chronic (progressing slowly with continued, permanent injury to the pancreas).

Acute pancreatitis comes on suddenly, usually with mild to severe pain in your upper abdomen that may radiate to your back and occasionally to your chest. The pain may be nearly constant for hours or even days and is likely to become worse when you drink alcohol or eat. Bending forward or curling into a fetal position may provide temporary relief.

Other signs and symptoms of acute pancreatitis include:

-Nausea and vomiting
-Fever
-Rapid pulse
-Swollen, tender abdomen
-In severe cases, dehydration and low blood pressure, internal bleeding, and shock
-You may have repeated episodes of acute pancreatitis and recover fully from each one. Still, every attack is a serious illness that can damage your pancreas and cause life-threatening complications.

Chronic pancreatitis
Ongoing damage to your pancreas can lead to a chronic condition that destroys the pancreas and nearby tissues, although it may be years before signs and symptoms appear. A few people with chronic pancreatitis never experience discomfort, but most have intermittent bouts of abdominal pain that can be severe. The pain may also become constant.

Late complications include recurrent pancreatitis and the development of pancreatic pseudocysts. A pancreatic pseudocyst is essentially a collection of pancreatic secretions which has been walled off by scar and inflammatory tissue. Pseudocysts may cause pain, may become infected, may rupture and hemorrhage, may press on and block structures such as the bile duct, thereby leading to jaundice, and may even migrate around the abdomen.

Please do not neglect. Consult your doctor. Best of luck-

Q: can someone please help me my bf has ….? what will happen?
on thursday night around midnight he texted me saying that his stomach was hurting really badly. the next day it was to, on sat. his mom took him to the doc (shes a nurse, and she figured he was developing stomach flu or somthing but then it started hurting worse) the doctors said that he has build up of enzymes in his pancreas (ignore my spelling) he said that your supposed to have 30 to 40 and my bf has over 100. my bf wont tell me anything else, he just said that he cantt eat candy or drink soda for a month but i asked if he would need surgery or anything and he just started going off topic. he doesnt like people to feel bad for him. im only 14 and im not really big in the medical field, hes 15 and since his mom is a nurse he tends to know more about doc. stuff than me, cna someone tell me what is wrong, and if he may need surgery or what is the matter, and what will the docs do in the future?
thank you very much for your time.
please i just want to know if it COULD mean surgery or somthing drastic like that. im not going to tell him or recommend him medicine or anything

A: the real issue here is lack of communication between u and your boyfriend….

sounds to me like he drank too many rockstars… he should be fine if he just lays off the sweets for a while…

but yea… i dont see a solid foundation for a relationship if he cant even fully explain a medical condition to his worried girlfriend…

Q: Is it safe to compost and burn outdoors leaves and branches of oleander?
I have many oleander plants and am aware of the fact that they are toxic.I also have 8 dogs and want to know if these plants are a danger to them (they havent tried eating them at all, but they do play under them). So far I have pruned and disposed of the leaves and branches on unused parts of our land to create natural decay but could do with the extra compost in the garden.
Is the toxicity only if inhaled at close range and what about large fireplaces mixed with other wood is it safe?
Thanks to all who may be able to help, from what I’ve read it could be a matter of life or death.

A: no…. it’s not safe to compost OR burn oleander…. you don’t need that extra bit of compost … the sap of this plant affects the heart rate….

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nerium_oleander

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&rls=com.microsoft:en-us&q=safe+to+burn+oleander&start=0&sa=N

this from the University of Florida…

When
disposing of branches pruned from oleanders, do not
burn the branches: the volatile oils that make the
plant poisonous will become airborne and may cause
respiratory difficulties if the smoke is inhaled.

and all those other ‘don’t do it’s have me convinced…. how about you?….

Q: Has anyone ever had deer eat a purple perilla plant?
I have had a horrible time keeping plants in my yard. I live in a wooded town north of Houston, TX. I’ve mistakenly listened to the local plant sellers when buying plants and been burned.

Now my mother has given me a Purple Perilla plant and I would like to avoid it being destroyed by the deer we have in the neighborhood. I have read that Perilla are deer resistant, but every other “deer resistant” plant that I’ve put out has been demolished. I no longer belive they won’t eat fuzzy or prickly plants, because they ate mine. The only thing they haven’t eaten are the Oleanders, Gardinas or Sago Palms.

Please let me know if anyone has had deer eat Purple Perilla plants.

A: Go buy you some chicken wire and put around everything you plant. Keep the deer from even trying to eat it. I had to do that with my whole yard, until I got a fence up to keep the deer out.

For more information about: back pain from lifting heavy objects visit the Pain site FeelTheHurt.com today.

Q: neck pain and hand numbness?
i recently got hurt on the job while working. At my job i had to lift and pull heavy objects over my head. My neck hurts really bad. There is a burning inside and I cannot turn my head to touch my shoulders or bend my neck to touch my chest. I always have headaches that start from my upper back and go up into the back of my head and they are extremely painful. Both of my hands are also numb. My back hurts a good bit of the time and sometimes my shoulders. I have an mri schelduled soon but not knowing is getting the best of me. Does anyone know what could be going on with me? I would greatly appreciate anyones help.

A: Just an “armchair diagnosis” guess, but it sounds like you may have a herniated cervical disk. This means you have pressure of a nerve in your neck area caused by the protrusion of the fibricartilage disks between one (or more) of your neck vertebra on that nerve. It’s common to get this kind of injury with the kind of work you describe. It would also cause pain and numbness. Burning pain is often associated with nerve pain.

You could even have several herniated disks (“slipped” disks, in layman’s terms). The MRI you are scheduled for would give you a conclusive diagnosis.

I wish you the best!

Q: Help, spondylolysis, can it be healed?
Hi I have Spondylolysis, I have known about it for about 5 months now. I recieved it from lifting heavy objects at my work and getting a stress fracture. I had bad back pain and went in and learned of my condition when I got an x-ray. Now I can’t find an answer to a simple question. Can this condition be cured? Can I heal my back so I can do high impact exercises again and not have to worry about getting a crooked, painful, spine? If so, How?

A: I had it and continue to have it after over ten years. It never healed on its one despite the brace (doctors orders). If you find any treatments, I’d like to know! Mine doesn’t hurt chronically only when I stand for more than 30 minutes at once.

Q: Case study on spinal cord pathology?
A 63 year old professor tried to push his car, which was caught in a snowdrift and immediately suffered sudden and severe pain in the lower back. He felt as if something “snapped” in the lower part of his spine. Later his pain extended down the posterior aspect of his right thigh and leg. He also noticed some numbness and tingling over the lateral part of his right leg, foot, little toe. He reports that for the several past years, he had episodes of “bad back”, particularly after lifting heavy objects from a stooping position. The patient has a rupture of the intervertebral disk between the fifth lumbar and first sacral vertebrae with protrusion of the nucleus pulposus and involvement of the first sacral nerve also known as slipped disk/ herniation.
Questions.
1. What is the function of the intervertebral disk and what are its two structural components?
2. What caused the “snap”?
3. What are the most common sites for disk herniation and why?
4. What is the explanation for the aggravation of pain by straining and coughing?
5. What surgical procedures can be indicated if conservative treatment is not effective?

A: 1. the IV disk provides “cushioning” or shock absorption and also provides mobility/movement to the vertebral column. its two parts are the Annulus Fibrosus and Nucleus Pulposus

2. the “snap” is most likely caused by a rupture of the inner and sometimes outer annullar fibers caused by the herniation of the nucleus pulposus.

3. most common sites are in the disks in the lumbar region. this is mainly due to “tapering” of the posterior longitudinal ligament in the area, and due to the higher mechanical stress compared to other parts of the column.

4. straining and coughing causes an increase in abdominal pressure which leads to increased pressure on nerves already impinged by the herniation

5. Surgical treatment includes:

    * Microdiscectomy (the most common procedure)
* Lumbar laminectomy
* Chymopapain injections
* Arthroscopic lumbar discectomy
* Microendoscopic surgery

Q: What medicine has helped you with Cholinergic Urticaria?
Im an 18 year old male and I think I have this. It happened before a long time ago but has just recently came back. Its getting to the point where it is becoming unbearable.I have to get up and leave classes and walk outside to cool off. Anytime I get hot or bothered I get stinging pains all over especially in my back. Lifting heavy objects, getting nervous or mad or even just laughing will cause it to go off. From being a well known athlete this is probably one of the worst conditions to have. This is one of the worst pains Ive ever had to deal with. Even compared to . So I want to know what I can take or do to cause this to go away before I head off to college since it seems like it has depleted my sports career.

A: Antihistamines are the most frequently prescribed thing for this. I recommend you work with a doctor to experiment with different ones until you find the one that helps the most.

They really don’t help me much, and so I don’t usually take them very often. I absolutely hate cholinergic urticaria, and I know exactly what you are going through.

I have had it on/off for 8 years or so now. It will probably go away sometime just like the first time you had it, but when is the question.

Some people take heavy-duty drugs like steroids for it. I think that it isn’t too safe to do that, and they have LOTS of side effects. But talk with a good dermatologist or doctor that is familiar with this.

I have a blog and forum with lots of great articles. You may be interested in some of them. Good luck!

Q: Lump on right side of Abdomen?
When I lay down flat, I can feel a lump on the right side of my abdomen, about 3 inches from my belly button. I can only feel it when I lay down flat. It does not buldge any other time. I do not have pain, maybe slight discomfort (probably a mental thing and I am imagining it b/c I keep touching it) but I am not sure. A co worker of mine suggessted a hernia. I hate seeing doctors, and I don’t know what to do. Again, I can only feel it when I lay down completely flat on my back. It started about three weeks ago. I was not lifting heavy objects recently, but I work out a lot using a Bowflex. Please help and be serious about the situation and don’t give answers saying “Just go see a doctor!”

A: as much as you’ll hate me for saying anything the majority of us aren’t doctors and we can’t tell you what it is. We may have suggestions but none that are as good as a professional that specializes in the human body. the only way to know for sure IS to go to a doctor. Because what if you wait to long and you find out it’s something that could have been prevented, you’ll be kicking yourself.

Q: Which kind of doctor should I consult this time?
I have gone to so many doctors over a period of three months it’s insane. I’ve seen an OB-GYNE (diagnosed with cervical infection), an IM (who recommended I take a thyroid test; turned out normal), a Gastroenterologist (diagnosed me with GERD after endoscopy and colonoscopy), an EENT (gave me meds for my earache saying it’s just rhinitis; it made it worse till I stopped it) and a Neurologist (who recommended a CT scan of my brain, normal; said I’m just imagining things). Now I’m feeling other things and I don’t know who I should consult.

What I’m feeling right now:
- tingling of hands and feet
- easily tiring of arms especially after lifting heavy objects for a period of time (used to be able to do this without a hitch)
- sensitivity to cold
- high blood pressure
- earache
- nerve pain
- pain in different areas of the body: legs, arms, neck (front and back), jaw
- pain in what feels like deep inside my left chest (below collarbone and just above breast)
- post nasal drip/rhinitis; making me very susceptible to a sore throat and cough
- interrupted sleep
- great anxiety

I am at my wits’ end. I am a 34 year old female, and I have no idea what’s going on. Which doctor should I see? Is anyone else suffering from similar symptoms? Please, help.

A: Wow, it must be very frustrating to not have an answer for your multiple symptoms.
If I had to select just one physician, I would select a knowledgeable and caring internal medicine physician (internist). They are usually primary care physicians, unless they have a subspecialty and see patients for consultation referred by other doctors. The one recurring problem, however, is they are usually very rushed and always never have enough time with each patient. It is extremely difficult to be an internist in this world, with relatively low compensation, long hours, many demands, and a general unappreciation for their intellectual skills.

Testing you for hypo- or hyperthyroidism was a good idea, but that is not the only possible diagnosis. Hopefully he did other blood tests and examined you thoroughly.

Other specialists that may be appropriate for you are:
-rheumatologist (to check for fibromyalgia or other rheumatic-type disorders)
-neurologist (just because your brain CT is normal does not exclude a real organic reason for your symptoms; I doubt you are simply imagining everything.)
-endocrinologist (various hormonal disturbances can cause wierd and puzzling symptoms, what doctors call a “syndrome”)
-a physical medicine and rehabilitation physician (PM&R or physiatrist): they often can help a person when no one else can. A spinal cause needs to be ruled out for your tingling, tired feeling, and pain.

Hope you get a solution. It just takes the right physician to be a good detective and communicate with you. (not exactly like House)

Q: pain in uterus for the first time with sex?
Me and my boyfriend had sex and I had a pain in my uterus during it. I’ve never had pain from sex before. I have discharge at times that feels like I’m having my period but it’s clear. I get dull light cramps in my left or right side of my uterus when I lift things too at work and lower back pains. But I think that’s just from lifting objects adn putting them away. Their not heavy though. I’ve been constipated. I tasted metal in my mouth today while swimming and got nauseated from my toothpaste taste today. I feel full in my lower stomach. And at times my boobs get tingly. Mostly today I had pain while having sex and wanted to know what it could be. I’ve been tested negative for STDs. So I’m clean. I also had my period lighter than usual before and earlier than before. We had sex on my ovulation date and the day after. I do have IBS and I havn’t been taking my birth control because it’s been making me sick. I’ve been feeling sick for 2 months now. Sick as in nauses or intestinally even when I take my IBS meds. Anyone know what this pain is?
I don’t have pain passing urine. and if you were a girl you can tell when your uterus hurts, lol. Cramps are uterus contractions anyway. Just saying. I went to a gyno recently and I’m healthy down there.
I take Belladona for my IBS. I also was tighter than usual during sex too before the pain after he penetrated me.

A: I think the smartest and safest thing to tell you right now is you should speak with a Family doctor about this. Write down everything that is happening and take that with you, write down dates, times, and what you were doing.

I have pain too when my husband and I have sex, not sure what it is but Im thinking it’s my uterus as well. Does it hurt in every position? It only hurts when my husband goes too deep, so it’s pretty easy to manage for my self.

I think you should take a pregnancy test just to get that out of the way, altho you said you went to the docs so maybe they tested you when you went it?

What IBS meds are you on? Maybe that could be the problem? I have IBS altho I haven’t been to the docs about it but I take imodium AD and I know when I take that I sometimes feel sick.

Ask your doc if your IBS pills could be the problem?

I wish you luck!

Q: Chest popping?
I’ve been experiencing this problem for about a year now. My chest (heart side) feels uncomfortable under the collar bone about 2-3 inches on the hearts right side near the sternum. I alleviate this by arching my chest forward and raising my head this in turn causes my chest to pop numerous times and causes me sometimes to become light headed ( this fixes the problem temporarily, I pop in numerous times throughout the day). This popping is analogous to when you crack your knuckles. Now my doctor basically told me not to lift heavy objects because at that time I was working in a warehouse and go to the gym a lot (cant do dips anymore), but I haven’t gone to the gym since December and I don’t work in a warehouse anymore so what is causing this sensation I’m feeling in my chest.. I had numerous cardiograms done and it showed nothing, I even did the stress test on the treadmill in my doctor’s office and I passed that as well. The doctor gave me naproxen (basically a really strong Aleve) and that’s all he did for me and I only take it when the pain is unbearable. I suffer from GERD by I have a lot of control over take using nothing more than Rolaids now a day. I take one a day multivitamins. Don’t drink, rarely smoke. Sleep on my left side. What other information should I provide even if it seems minuscule? Some days im ok and I don’t pop it some days are bad. There was one time where the pain was so incredible that I couldn’t lay down or move and my body was crooked. But I want to know so I continue to crack it, should I work this muscle out cause I’m about to start going back to the gym, any information would be appreciated.

A: I have suffered exactly what you described. After years of this Doctor and that Doctor it was finally discovered I had a bad (herniated) thoracic vertebrae.

Unfortunately, it is basically inoperable. To repair a thoracic vertebrae you must go in from the front (like open heart surgery but worse), collapse a lung, to be able to get to that area. Thus, any thing short of paralysis, you should not have the surgery. In addition, two surgeons told me, most patients complained that they had more pain from the surgery site than what the surgery was suppose to relieve.

I have learned how not to aggravate it like leaning over the hood of my car to do repairs, under the dash repairs, anything that bends your spine in that area.

I wish you well and hope you find some comfort soon.

GOOD LUCK!

Q: Tightness along middle-back area, not really painful, see a chiropractor?
About a month ago, I went to my doctor complaining about some back pain that I sustained from the gym. He had me demonstrate my range of motion, determined it was probably muscular. He suggested heat, ibuprofen, stretch and that I can resume exercising so long as I take it easy and don’t go heavy on weights. He also prescribed light muscle relaxers, which I only took 2 of, then ditched the rest.

Since then, my back has gotten better. When I started going back to they gym, I only swam for a few days a week. This week I’ve started on weight lifting, but only with machines so my range of motion could be controlled. I’ve also been heating my back, sitting in a jacuzzi whenever possible and received a massage. There’s still a tightness that runs in a straight line down the center of my back. It’s not painful, but I can feel it especially if I bend over at the waist a little bit then push my arms forward like I’m trying to push a heavy object in front of me.

Has anyone experienced anything like this before? I’m thinking about going back to my doctor to have him refer me to a chiropractor because if this were muscular, it would’ve healed by now. However, I don’t think it’s a slipped disc because my pain would probably be much much worse than what I’m feeling now.

A: A good massage is likely all you need.

Q: What to do if you’re paralyzed with lower back pain?
My Father hurt his back today bending down to pick something up, the object wasn’t heavy. I believe it was a shoe or something.

He tried to lay down on his back to relax his back and see if that would help but it ended up trapping him on the floor. He couldn’t move without terrible pain that made him cry out and yelp. I’ve never seen him in this much pain before. He was in so much pain that he almost vomited. We managed to lift him up and get him into a chair and he’s a lot better now but I don’t know what to do when he’s going to need to get up to use the bathroom or perform any other normal activity of daily living.

He refuses to let me call the hospital because we can’t afford it. Basically he’s trapped in a chair and we can’t move him even though it’s inevitable that he’ll need to get up. I know the moment he tries he’ll be paralyzed with pain and possibly fall to the ground.

We don’t have a car or I would drive him to the hospital myself. What can we do to help him and will he recover? It can’t be a terrible injury because all he did was bend over from a standing position. Will he recover without needing to see a doctor? He’s 53 years old if that helps.

We also gave him some aspirin for the pain, but beyond that we’re not sure how to help.

A: 911 baby

Q: frusterated about this labor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!TMI?
So…. 2 days ago i was checked and was just about 4 cm dilated and 75-80% effaced… i lost a ping pong ball sized mucus plug about 24 hrs ago,.and just lost another, also about the size of a ping pong ball. both with a bloody “show” for about 48 hrs now ive been having very inconsistent contractions and tons of pressure in my lower back and pelvis. Also periodic burning sensations in my crotch…. I’ll have an hours worth of strong, regular contractions, with 2 hours of nothing, then 3 of extreme back pain and so on
this is my second child….
my first was born 17 months ago… and i never had consistent contractions with him…. i was 9cm by the time i went to the hospital….
has ne1 had a similar labor to mine?????
Are there any ways that I can safely bring on contractions??? I’ve been walking like crazy and lifting (fairly) heavy objects…
I am sooo miserable and ready to have this baby. AND I’m tired of making the 45 minuet trip from my house to the hospital only to be made to feel like an idiot. Apparently, since this is my 2nd I should know exactly whats going on at all time….

thanks!

A: Cinnamon Tea encourages contractions and when you go walking, try to walk up a fairly “steep” incline.

Q: I AM REALLY SO CONFUSED HERE… i have been joggin for a while but took time off….?
this is my question i all of a sudden EXPERIENCE SORNESS AND TIGHTNESS ON MY BACK AREA…. I CAN FEEL IT THROB… WHEN I LAY ON MY BACK AND GO TO BED … BUT WHEN I AM LAYING ON MY STOMACH I AM FINE. THIS HAPPEND WHEN I LIFTED A HEAVY OBJECT.. OR WHEN I RAN OUTSIDE IN THE COLD JUST 3 DAYS AGO… AFTER THAT I FEEL IT TIGHTEN UP ON ME WHEN I DRIVE AND SIT OR WALK AROUND IN THE HOUSE IT TIGHTENS UP ON ME.. AND I TRIED MOTRIN AND HAMSTRING STRETHCES THEY SAY IT HELPS WITH BACK PAIN BUT IT COMES BACK.. IT HAS BEEN NOW 2 DAYS … YOU THINK IT IS FROM LIFTING THE HEAVY OBJECT IN THE COLD OR JOGGIN IN THE COLD WITHOUT STRETCHING ENOUGH.. THIS HAPPEND RIGHT AFTER I RAN FOR 30 MINUTES IN THE COLD??? I DONT HAVE MONEY OR INSURANCE TO GO TO THE DOC.. SHOULD I GIVE IT COUPLE MORE DAYS… I TOOK TYLENOL AND IT GOT WORSE AND PUT ICE AND DIDNT HELP… THIS IS NOT SEVERE PAIN OR ANYTHING THAT I CANT BEAR.. I MEAN I CAN WALK FINE AND SIT AND BEND FINE … JUST THE TIGHTNESS IS SO ANNOYING?? ANY IDEAS ON HOW LONG OR HOW MANY DAYS IT WILL LAST AND WILL IT EVENTUALLY HOPEFULLY BECOME BETTER ON ITS OWN… ALL ANSWERS APPRECIATED!!!!!! ALSO,, I AM STRESSED ALOT CAN STRESS BE CAUSING THIS TIGHT PAIN IN MY BACK.. .I HEARD IT IS LIKE LACTIC ACID BUILD UP IN MUSCLES I DONT KNOW…. HOPE YOU GUYS CAN HELP

A: You may have a back spasm and sometimes those just come on with no provocation. Take aspirins and put heat on it

Q: Is my chiropractor a quack?
Ten days ago I hurt my back lifting a heavy object. The next morning by back was hurting, so I made an appointment with my chiropractor. he took some X-rays and said he didn’t see any damage, except that hip was crooked, and he could help me with his electrostimulation treatments.
So he treated me on Wednesday and Friday. On Tuesday of this week, I had gotten worse, so I went back to him and got another treatment, but before it was over I had actually screamed and cried from the pain. (I’m a 48 year old man, and I don’t normally scream or cry).
So on Tueday afternoon my wife took me to the ER, and they did an MRI, and it turns out that my back is broken! The L1 vertebra, in the words of the doctor, looks like a Coke can that has been stepped on. So they referred me to a spine specialist, who I saw on Wednesday, and he put me in a back brace and gave me pain meds and muscle relaxers, and I am getting better already (I tend to heal abnormally fast).

So, my question is, is my chiropractor a quack? Why didn’t he see the broken bones on his x-ray? I saw the MRI, and I am an engineer, not a doctor, but even I could see that it was broken. How can you miss something so obvious? My wife and mother want me to sue him, but I am not that kind of person under normal circumstances. If his treatment had paralyzed me, I would, but as it all he caused me was an extra week of excrutiating pain.
I corresponded with a personal injury attorney and his response was that I don’t have enough injuries to file suit.

A: I have seen this many many times with chiropractors (once even a broken neck). In my book they should not deal with acute injuries until cleared by a medical person. Or ANYTIME there manipulations causes PAIN (you could have a spinal abscess that they would never catch). Its let the public beware with these alternative modalities (don’t even start me on chiropractors). In my state they can’t order or interpret Xrays. Thank god there was no permanent damage. You can report him to the chiropractic board however & they will investigate for negligence. (and I do advise this).

Q: What did i do to my shoulder?
Okay i just got back from snowboarding and well my shoulder took a little beating today.
First i took a spill off a jump and kinda got a little shoulder stinger nothing bad. Then a few hours later i took another spill off a rail, this time it hurt more! I can still move my arm in every direction an arm can go, the only time i feel (i wouldn’t even call it pain) but “discomfort” would be when i rotate my arm and it gets to the top of the rotation, so kinda like the position when someone would show off there biceps. I can even lift a 16lb bowling ball (the only heavy object within site lol) with no pain.
I don’t think its dislocated because i can move it but i’ve never dislocated a shoulder so i wouldn’t know. I believe it just might be a bad bump on the shoulder, but i figured i would ask and see what others think.
Thanks for any advise

A: Maybe you pulled a muscle. You should go see a charopractor or something. If you’re not wanting to go to a doctor then use some ice, then a heating blanket or somehting. Alternate with the hot and cold.

Q: Excurciating muslce arm ache/pain?
I’ve been having very strong muscle arm ache pains (elbow down to my wrist for the past 11 years). I broke both of my arms twice first time when I was 2nd grade(both), right arm(4th grade), left arm(5th grade). The doctor from 11 years ago advised me not to carry heavy object or my bones will snap so in conclusion I don’t workout . This year I went to my doctor and asked what causing the pain her response: scarred muscle tissue she also says I have to live with this pain for the rest of my life
-pain level from 1-10 10 being the worst. I would definitely say 10. The pain is so unberarble I can’t even sleep, lift, grip, etc even text or type on the computer.
-also when I put a heat pad on my arm the heat relieves the excurciating pain but as soon as I take off the heating pad the pain comes back after a split second. Especially winter time I get my arm pains basically every other day.

now my question is. What is really wrong with my arms? Are there any medications I can take to relieve this pain? Physical theraphy? Please help me
Thank Everybody for all your responses i really appreciate your time for answering my question!

TO:Bobbie, Maca, Beery: I will go ahead and get another opinion

TO:Douglas, Pauli, loves questions: I will go ahead and do the exercises/stretches now until i go see a doctor

TO: Pauli: I don’t drink milk, hate the taste and the smell and i’m also lactose intolerant(minor though) but i do take calcium pills everyday + vitamins and all those good stuff

TO Beery: Yes medications can be addicting, normally i don’t take any pain medications but my arm aches is definitely yes for pain meds! the pain=me crying lol

once again thank you so much for all your answers, i don’t know who to pick for the best answer

A: After going through p.t., chiro’s and acupuncture for 25 years, I hit upon the one thing they were missing that helped me get rid of my pain I had lived with for over 40 years. (I fell out of a car when I was 3 and hit by another when I was 7, my body was a mess) It came as pressure, extension relief. The basis of it very simple, apply pressure to the sore area and hold for about 30 seconds, then find the extension of it and after releasing it, to rest it for one minute. For you I would say press onto one of the pain areas and hold it tight. I always end up using as much pressure as I can apply. Because this is on your arms, there isn’t much extension of those muscles, if forearm anyway, so slowly rotate your arm in both directions and stop in an area from where you started from. Then release the pressure and hold your arm there for one minute. Also, while doing these exercises, try very hard not to tense up any part of your body or they may not work, not even your arm you are using to do it with, let your hand do the work. What you are doing is releasing the tendons on those muscles, they tend to pull back from trauma and need help in releasing to let your muscles work properly. If any questions let me know.

Q: Appendix Pain?
I’m having occausional pain in the lower right part of my body. Im not sure weather this is my appendix or not. The pain comes and goes and is never unbearable. Normal appendisitice creates major pain. I was wondering if theres any special food that is good for you appendix. Is there anything bad for it? My family has a running tradition of bad appendixs. I was just wondering what I should do, I hate surgery and neddels. I am 17 so I’m wondering if thats to young to get it. I need answers fast. Time is of the essense.

A: Your pain would likely be accompanied by a high fever, so I’m thinking you don’t have to worry about your appendix. It’s also possible you caught the neuro virus that’s been making it’s way around this flu season (although that’s about a 24 hour bug). In any case, you really should have this checked out by a doctor.

Q: appendix pain?
ok about where my appendix is i have a pain and it has been there for about 2 days.
the pain is almost cramp like and if i apply pressure it hurts quite bad.

are theses the syptoms of an appendix bursting.
i have no symptoms of nausea or anything like that

A: fever, nausea, sometimes diarrhea… usually the pain starts in the center and moves towards the right/lower abdomen (where the appendix is).

definitely get in to see a doctor right away… a burst appendix is an emergency situation!

Q: Appendix pain!?
I was in quite a lot of pain about an hour ago -serious pain!- now after lying down I am okay with an occasional jolt of pain from my appendix. should i go to the hospital? or should i go to sleep and try to figure things out in the morning

A: Sorry you are in pain.
First of all take your temperature. If it 100 degrees Fahrenheit or higher, combined with pain on your right lower abdoman, then get to the hospital. If your appendix ruptures, it causes peritonitis and that can kill you very quickly. The pain from your appendix can get severe enough that you cannot walk. To be more accurate as to if it is your appendix, have someone press down slowly and gently on your abdoman, then release quickly. If you have MORE pain upon the RELEASE than when they were pressing down, that is reactive appendix pain.
Do not eat anything, in case you do need surgery.

Again the MOST significant factor is a fever, combined with the pain. With appendicitis the fever will keep climbing. So keep checking, even if you do not have one yet for it can take appendicitis a few days to become accute.

Keep us posted, hope you feel better soon.

Q: How does ruptured appendix pain compare to labor pain?
My appendix ruptured about 5 years ago, and now I am expecting my first child in August. My situation was somewhat rare in that my appendix ruptured as many as 4 or 5 days before I went into surgery, but since my body “walled off” the infection I didn’t have any of the usual symptoms (besides pain). As my due date approaches, I’m wondering how this pain might compare to labor pain.

A: Don’t listen to people who tell you what labour pains are like…they’re different for everybody, and there are always people out there who want to scare you with tales of their own! Just remember: if labour pains were soooo bad, then nobody would have more than one child!
Anyway, the pain of childbirth is not the pain of something being ‘wrong’ in your body, so it’s different! And it’s a ‘productive’ pain…you feel as if you’re getting somewhere with every contraction and you know it will end with something beautiful!
Just relax..and enjoy looking forward to your baby! Congratulations, by the way )

Q: Can you get your appendix taking out if you don’t have any appendix pain or symptoms?
Like you have NO symptoms of Appendicitis/Appendix Pain. Can you get it taken out so later in life it wont explode? So it can be gone from your body so your not so paranoid of it exploding and feeling a needle pain and not sure if it is a stomach pain or nerve pinch or if it REALLY is Appendicitis.

CAN YOU GET IT TAKEN OUT EARLY IF YOU HAVE NO SYMPTOMS OF APPENDICITIS?

A: You don’t want to have unnecessary abdominal surgery if you don’t need it. It’s expensive and your health insurance won’t pay to remove a healthy appendix. If you do have appendicitis, you’ll be running a fever, you’ll have major abdominal pain and you may be throwing up. It’s more than just a twinge of pain.

Q: Who know why we get are appendix pain?
I what to know what causes you’re appendix to act up and u get a nasty pain why is that?

A: The appendix gets blocked…it could be appendicitis. You should go get that checked out because if it is and it ruptures, you’ll get bacteria spilled in your abdominal cavity and that can be life-threatening

Q: what should i do if i have appendix pain?
i have got pain in appendix two times.now what should i do ?should i sway for surgery or let it be like this.some says that go to nice doctor and have it cured by medicine instead of surgery which is denie me from my work for several months&i won’t be able to give exams.some say that sugery is very easy and not much rest is required.

A: If it is appendicitis pain then don!t take chances ,show to surgeon & if required he will operate, you will be resting for 5-6 days, then light work you can do.Admiral V K Singh

Q: What is the difference between Appendix pain and Hernia pain.?
Ok here’s the thing.
My husband has been having this tremendes pain around his belly, leaning to his right side..
The pain also shoots down to his testicle.
For 2 days.
He hasn’t experienced any of the following::::
1. Vomiting
2. Dizziness
3. Frequent urination.
He’s sleeping now, should I be worried?
What do you think it could be??
Has anyone of you had a hernia?
Is this what it sounds like or not??
Anyone have an idea? Serious answers Please. =)

A: if the pain has been there for 2 days now, definitely it is not from appendicitis. is there a bulge in his right groin or testicle? if there is, it might be a hernia. i still would suggest that you bring him to a doctor so a physical examination can be done. a complete blood count and a urinalysis would be helpful. basing from what you narrated, it is also possible that he may have a stone in his urinary system (urolithiasis). a consult with a urologist might also be helpful.

Q: Is the pain of the appendix when you have appendicitis constant?
I might have appendicitis but the pain in my appendix is not constant, it comes and goes. Does this mean that I have appendicitis? I have looked up other symptoms, which I seem to have, but the whole not constant pain thing is a draw back to whether I have it or not in my opinion.

A: Symptoms

Appendicitis can cause a variety of symptoms that may change over time:

Early on, the most common symptom is an aching pain around your navel that often shifts later to your lower right abdomen.
As the inflammation spreads to nearby tissues, the pain may become sharper and more severe.
Eventually, the pain tends to settle in your lower right abdomen — near your appendix at what’s known as McBurney point. This point is about halfway between your navel and the top of your right pelvic bone.

But the location of your pain may vary, depending on your age and the position of your appendix. Young children or pregnant women, especially, may have appendicitis pain in different places.

What makes pain worse
If you apply gentle pressure to the area that hurts, it will feel tender. As you release the pressure, especially if you do it suddenly, appendicitis pain often will feel worse (rebound tenderness). It will also tend to get worse if you cough, walk or make other jarring movements. This is particularly true if the inflamed appendix is touching the peritoneum — the silk-like membrane that lines the inner abdominal wall and enfolds the intestines. The pain may lessen somewhat if you lie on your side and pull your knees up toward your chest.

Symptoms other than pain
In addition to pain, you may have one or more of the following appendicitis symptoms:

Nausea and sometimes vomiting
Loss of appetite
A low-grade fever that starts after other symptoms appear
Constipation
An inability to pass gas
Diarrhea

Q: when a women is pregnant and during that time period she is also suffering from an appendix pain.solution is?
surgery for appendix can be done or not ? is it safe for foetus?

A: I had an appendicitis when I was pregnant with my first child. They didn’t remove it as it was a dangerous operation and it seemed to go away. Your best bet is to ask your Dr or the Dr’s at your hospital. There is always risk involved with any surgery and even more so when pregnant. If you are unsure then seek a second opinion. Good luck.

Q: appendix pain after 11 weeks after removed?
i had my appendix removed by key hole 11 weeks ago but srill suffering with pain in my right side where my appendixs was. the doctors has given me loads of different tablets but the pain is still there

is this normal?

A: It is possible that you have developed an internal abscess,a scan would exclude this. A check to confirm that you don’t have a low grade fever and blood for an ESR might also be indicators.

Q: I have pain in the area near my appendix?
I have pain where my appendix is. It doesn’t hurt severely, but it does make me worry a little. I am 14 years old. I think it could also be something to do with ovaries (my family has a history of cysts on the ovaries). What could it be?

A: It could be gas or gall bladder. You’re so young for it to be ovaries. This usually occurs in women at least 25 -45. Appendix symptons is pain on the right side and top of your belly button, nausea, fatigue. Please tell someone and get to a doctor to make sure. CT scan to make sure.
Take Care!

Q: How long does it take for the pain to go after having your appendix out.?
i had my appendix taken out on thursday night by keyhole surgery, and im having rather sharp pains in my appendix area, like the level of pain when i actually had appendicitis, all other pain has pretty much gone but my appendix area is really tender and hurts to touch.
ive researched it and one place it says i should consult a doctor other places have said its fine.

is this normal?

A: you had surgery less than a week ago, of course it’s going to be tender and somewhat painful. Give it ten days before you start getting concerned. it should fade a bit more each day. A sudden increase in pain accompanied by a fever would indicate a problem that you should see a doctor for.

Q: Can your appendix cause severe back pain that shoots all the way into your throat?
i first noticed the area where my appendix is to feels like bad pressure when i was takin a bathroom break from work then a couple hours later i get pain starting from the appendix area shooting all the way up my back into my throat could the 2 have anything 2 do with each other? should i see a doctor?

A: Hi, it’s very unlikely to have radiating pain from your appendix that goes upwards to your throat. The only possible way this could be related is if you had a very serious bowel condition all the way through the rectum, stomach & esophagus. This is very unlikely.
However, pain in the appendix can be serious in itself. Check your temperature. Apply some pressure to the area & release. If pain is greater as you release it, and you have a fever, you may have appendicitis. This would be a medical emergency & should be checked out by a doctor ASAP.
Hope this helps to resolve your problem.

Q: my pain is in the ovary area but also stabbing pain in area of appendix?
the pain comes & goes but is stabbing where i have to hold my hand to calm pain. still have appendix & am on depo for ovarian cysts. what should i do?

A: Go to a doctor. If it is appendicitis then they will have to perform surgery on you,but you can live without an appendix .

Q: What would cause severe upper right-side abdominal pain?
What would cause someone to have upper right abdominal pain, bright yellow liquid stool that he complains of burning very bad when it’s passed, nausea, no vomiting, and a low-grade fever? We cannot get a hold of his doctor to find out if this is serious.
He had his appendix out already, this is an older man, not a kid. He’s not really having a bowel movement, just this liquid yellow stuff, but he’s having that fairly often.
He also had his gallbladder removed.

A: He could have a bowel obstruction. When was his last B.M
Call the local Emergency room and ask to speak to a R.N or Dr for that matter.
What did he eat last?? How long has this been going on ? Have you tryed Pepto or Emodium.
I would call the E.R. Its not unusual to have nausea with bowel trouble .
gosh best of luck

Q: My wife is 5wk pregt and she is getting little pain on lower right side of abdominal thru out day. Plz respond
She is having low intensity pain on lower right side abdominal . Pain vanishes when she have food. Please tell me wht shall i do ?

A: This is completely normal so both of you rest assured! Don’t let her stress out over it be sure and tell her its normal. I was about 5/6 weeks along and experienced the same thing up until I was about 12 weeks along. I rushed into the ER first thing because I was so scared I was losing the baby ( I had been trying to concieve for almost a year and so everything scared me in the beginning ) When I went into the ER with these pains in my abdomen the doctor told me they were completely normal. Its from your uterus stretching so much and all your muscles in your abdomen and all your organs “making room” for baby. But a lot of it comes from the uterus stretching so much. I’m sure you’re thinking…but in the first trisemester you don’t even show and in the end your uterus is huge…well the amount that the uterus stretches just in the first trisemester is the biggest percentile of change. The uterus is multiplying itself in size by 5/6 times!! After that the growth is pretty much gradual even though the uterus is getting huge hehe. Good luck to her with the pregnancy and congrats on the babe! I wish her a safe and healthy delivery!!

Q: Almost 27 weeks and slight lower right side abdominal pain?
Hi I am about 27 weeks pregnant this week! Woohoo but for the last few days I have some slight pain on my lower right side of my abdomen. Its at any time walking or sitting. What do you think it could be?

A: I am also 27 weeks this week and I have the same thing I brought it up at my last appt and my mid wife said it was ligament pains….I was also concerned b/c I couldn’t even walk and it hurt so bad across the bottom of my abdomen but she says its normal and the baby was probably sitting low and was cause the ligaments to strecth and hurt reall bad….so I am guessing its just round ligament pain and the baby might be mostly on your right side….if your in real horrible pain like not even being able to tolerate then see a doctor, but if not then call your doctor if your concerned to ease your mind!
Good luck and congrats!!!!
Yay to May babies when are you due???

Q: what causes right side abdominal pain?
My girlfriend always complains about right side abdominal pain. She once had an intestinal torsion but it was surgical corrected. What do you think could be the problem now?

A: Right side abdominal pain is a classic symptom of appendicitis, she needs to see a doctor as soon as possible. It can be serious and if the appendix ruptures it can kill her.

Q: I have lower right side abdominal pain?
My throat was very itchy today while I was picking my dog up from the vet and I began to cough quite a lot. Every time I coughed I had a sharp pain in my right side abdominal area(around the ovaries I suppose). It also hurt when I laughed, but it stopped hurting and hasnt’ came back up yet.

Should I be worried or is it just nothing?
I thought that too and not saying it isn’t, but I haven’t been coughing at all. The first time I coughed it hurt.
But then again, I’m sort of a hypochondriac. I always am thinking the worst.

A: Sounds like a muscle. We use all kinds of muscles when we cough and laugh. As a matter of fact, I am just now getting over a rough bout of flu … and now the coughing has begun in earnest. I am experiencing the same pain, on the same side of my body.

Q: its been nearly 1 year since im having pain in my right abdominal, right side in my vagina and in my leg?
It’s been nearly one year since ‘m having pain in my right side of abdominal, leg and inside my right side of my vagina. I’ve done 3 times Ultra Sound but the doctor haven’t found anything. Im very desperate please help me.

A: best ways to solve such problems is to contact doctors.

Q: I have a constant lower right side abdominal pain and it hurts whenever i sneeze up in my upper abdominal area?
I went to the hospital right away and they ran several tests and nothing showed up. So they sent me home on strong pain medication that hardly takes any pain away. I am a mother of 3 kids and babysit young children for a living what the hell do i do next? im in severe pain!!!

A: GO to another doctor. Get another opinion. It could be the appendix.

Q: Sharp abdominal pain right side?
I am now almost 15 weeks pregnant, but at 12 I had this sharp right pain while walking in Wal-Mart and could barely walk, but managed. It lasted between 10-15 I would say until i sat down and it went away and never came back. Have any else experienced this before? This is my 4th pregnancy. Thanks!

A: I ahd the exact same thing! They say it is normal to get sharp little pains. Mine were so bad that they did surgery to take out my appendix, but it wasnt it. So, try and stick it out if you can, because unecessary surgery really sucks I found out. I still get it sometimes. They told me that it could be my uterus expanding. Also, ligaments and muscles tear to make room. Goodluck!

Q: Right side abdominal pain – varies between very sharp and dull?
I have had this for 2 days now, I went to the hospital and they told me I might have a bladder infection, so they sent me home with antibiotics which I have been taking. However, the pain has not lessened, if anything its gotten worse. Has anyone experienced something similar, or knows what this could be?

A: ask the people at the hospital if it might be your appendix, it is on your right side after all.

Q: i have a right side abdominal pain?
i am pregnant and i sleep with my son! he hit me almost all the time at night! now i am putting a pillow between us! cause i have a really bad abdominal pain on my right side! i am very worry cause i don’t know what it causing it? any ideas?

A: Go to the DR.

Q: Help diagnose right side abdominal pain.?
For quite a while I have had very occasional right side abdominal pain. I can go many months without a symptom, then, for a few days feel right sided pain.

The location is always the same – just above the beltline, a stabbing pain in a single spot that goes stab…stab…STAB… and so on. The episodes last only a bouple of minutes, then goes away, sometimes for hours, and sometimes for months.

I am 62 years old, in otherwise good health, 6′ 195 lbs, and have no symptoms associated with this pain.

Yes, I’ve gone to the doctor (two PCP’s and a neuro), and they agree that there is nothing at that location to cause this pain. One sent me to a neuro, thinking it may be referred pain from the spine, but the neuro agreed with the PCP’s.. I have no back problems.

Any thoughts? Thanks.

A: Sounds like gall bladder symptoms. You can have these problems with the gall bladder and Not have It develop into something so serious that needs surgery.

I recommend you stay on a low fat diet and take two digestive enzymes Capsules every time you eat to help break down the food and cause less stress on the gall bladder.

if you have any questions please let me know.

Billie77

Q: Abdominal pain on the right side for a few days, what can I do?
I suffer from abdominal pain on the right side. 17 years ago I had my gallbladder removed. A few days ago I started getting pain in the right side of the upper abdomen. Very close to the scar from the surgery. I am wondering what this could be. I can tolerate the pain but it seems to get worse after I ate something.
Does anyone have advise on this? Thank you.

A: I get a GI doc to check you. There is always a possibility that something is stuck in or is blocking the common bile duct.

Q: Help with bad abdominal pain on right side?
Every so often, maybe every week or two, I get a bad (6 out of 1-10) dull pain on the right side of my abdomen. It will get sharp sometimes and if I press down or sit it hurts more. Sometimes the dull achy pain will also hurt my back or pelvic area.

Tonight its lasted longer then usual.. about 3 hours now and it’s more painful then usual. I just paged my on-call doc to see what I should do but does anyone have any idea what it could be?

A: Is it lower abdominal righted pain or under the ribs?

I had pain in my right side that would last for hours with my gallbladder attacks. I also had pain in my lower right side when I had my appendix out…but I had an achy side when I had ovarian cysts on my right ovary. It’s really tricky.

If the doctor tells you to go to the hospital, do it, even if it’s just to be on the safe side.

Good luck!!

Q: How do I I find which specialist to go for constant right side abdominal pain?
I have had right side abdominal pain for a few years. It’s more an intense discomfort that comes and goes.At times it feels like a balloon inflating and crushing my side. I had gone to an gastroenterologist to find out the cause of the pain the first course of action was to have a colonoscopy/endoscopy. He found some polyps; and I’ve had 4 additonal ones this year because he found a flat polyp which was hard to remove. The intial reason for my having gone to him has not been addressed. I’m not at the point where I cannot live my life normally, but sometimes my appetite is descreased and basically I’ve become a good actress. I learned how not to wince in front of people when I have an episode. Along with the right side pain (which radiates up my arm to my shoulder), I have various other symptoms which seemingly are not related. I don’t want to go to the doctor with a laundry list of symptoms; ’cause like a lot of other doctors, they attribute it to stress. This is not the reason. HELP

A: You have addressed this very well in your post. I agree taking a laundry list to a doctor does not work well. They usually think, well this has gone on some time, cannot be too bad. But you need to find out what this is. Have you had an MRI or an ultrasound? If not I would do. Also I think you have to know that you may have referred pain, pain that is taking place in another organ and that is being transmitted to your right side, by the nerves in your spine. Do not give up. I had pain, and my doctor keep saying, “Oh that is a muscle spasm,” finally I went through Cleveland Clinic and found that I had an efferent loop obstruction. I had that removed and now I am fine. But I remember my doctor po pooing the pain I was having for almost two years. Find a really good Doctor of internal medicine.

Q: right side abdominal pain, i have no clue what to do anymore…HELP!?
I have been having right side abdominal pain for over a year now, and it has progressively gotten worse. When it gets really bad, i also spike a fever. Recently, it has also been having spasms where it “rumbles & vibrates”, it almost feels like something is about to explode. the pain is severe, and it is like tearing and throbbing, it’s very hard to explain the sensation. any advice would be greatly appreciated. i have been to many different doctors, and they can find nothing. i also have a history of gastric ulcers and severe food allergies…i don’t know if that has anything to do with this.my bowels are normal. and i eat very healthy (i’m under a dietician). it’s really acting up right now and it also hurts to walk and move or do anything, i have a fever of 101.5. help please. like i said, i have been to many doctors, and have many tests done (most of which were performed a year ago) and everything has come back seemingly normal, but now it’s so much worse. like i feel like im going to throw up i just feel horrible. help! i have been avoiding all of the foods that i am allergic to so i don’t think that that has anything to do with my side pain. i have also get hives/rash when it hurts really bad. they are just red spots that aren’t really raised. i also have poor circulation, and my legs are almost purple, but i’m not overweight at all!
i am a 16 year old female, and i have had sonograms, x-rays, blood work, ct scan. most of which were over a year ago, and it’s getting progressively worse. but the docs say that it doesn’t have anything to do with my cycle. oh and i’ve also had 2 endoscopys for my gastric ulcers that were caused by food allergies, but since i have kept the offending foods out of my diet, the ulcers have gone away. so, i don’t think that this contributes to my side pain. i really would like to get to the bottom of this, i have some more doctors appointments, but they are giving up as well. i can barely sleep the pain is so bad. i can barely walk, and when i do i walk with a limp cuz i can’t put full pressure on my right leg (same side as the abdominal pain). the pain is like parallel to my belly button, not right by my ribs though, it’s kinda between my rib and pelvic bone, more so right in the part where there are no bones. i don;t think it’s ibs cuz my bowels are normal… but if it was appendecitis, wouldn’t they have found something by now?

A: You have asked this same question exactly 30 times in the last 6 days. It is pretty apparent our answers just aren’t helping you, and you really do need to go see a physician.

Q: Wrist Pain?
I need help with some Wrist Pain.

I play on the computer a lot and I have been experiencing a lot of pain where when I move my hand, It hurts to move. And when I let it sit still, I get a burning or restless sensation. Can somebody help me with possible remedies like massage techniques or cremes that may help it go away? Please help.

A: Carpal tunnel syndrome is a common cause of wrist pain. You may feel aching, burning, numbness, or tingling in your palm, wrist, thumb, or fingers. The thumb muscle can become weak, making it difficult to grasp things. Pain may extend up to your elbow.

Carpal tunnel syndrome occurs when an important nerve (called the median nerve) gets compressed at the wrist because of swelling. Such swelling can occur if you:

Do a repetitive motion with your wrist like typing on a computer keyboard, using a computer mouse, playing racquetball or handball, sewing, painting, writing, or using a vibrating tool.

REMEDIES

Use fat tool handles. If your tool handles are not fat then use some rubber grip to fatten it. Keep knives and other cutting tools sharp so that less pressure is exerted on the median nerve. Do not hold a pen with a tight grip while writing.

Always wear a wrist splint, especially at night. Apply an ice pack on your aching wrist, it will lessen the pain. If ice is unavailable, go for a hot treatment. Apply a heating pad on the aching wrist.

Include vitamin B especially vitamin B6 in your diet. Avoid packaged foods because it contains tartrazine which interferes with vitamin B6.

Before you make any changes in your medication, or try a natural anti-inflammatory, make sure you discuss the decision with your physician. Natural supplements do not come without danger or side effects and should be used with caution.

Some physicians recommend capsicum cream, made from red pepper, cayenne pepper or chili pepper fruit. You can apply this cream to your wrists four to five times each day. Sometimes relief takes up to one month of consistent use. Be careful to wash your hands thoroughly after using capsicum cream, as it can cause a burning sensation in sensitive areas such as your eyes.

Some people with arthritis will find relief from using one-to-two tablespoons of ground flax seeds each day. The omega-3 fatty acid content of flax seeds appears to be beneficial for some people. Other foods high in omega-3 fatty acids include cold water ocean fish and cod liver oil.

Other Suggestions for Carpal tunnel syndrome
Obese people should shed some weight. Take a break at regular intervals and do some stretching exercises of hands and fingers. Do not sit or stand in the same position for a long time.

Q: wrist pain?
i woke up the other day and there was a pain in my lower arm by my wrist. it hurt all day, and 2 days later it still hurts. when i even very lightly rub the top of my wrist the pain comes, so i think the pain is coming from my wrist and making the rest of my arm hurt. it seems to hurt when i touch it lightly more than if i press on it. it is very weird. can this be a blood clot? or maybe i just slept on it weird?

A: sprained your wrist during sleep ,

Q: Wrist pain?
For the last 2-3 weeks now, I have this pain in my left wrist. To replicate when the pain occurs, hold your hand horizontall flat, then try to point your whole hand toward the floor without moving your arm/wrist. Serious pain. It’s right at the bottom of my hand where it meets the wrist. Any ideas? When should I see the doc?

A: I think it is time to see the doctor now. 2-3 weeks is long enough to indicate that it is an ongoing problem that needs treatment.

The area you are describing is where there are a lot of tendons and muscle in there. A doctor can help with diagnosing it. You may need hand therapy and/or a splint. Sometimes even a cortisone shot will help.

Have you tried taking an anti inflammatory like Aleve or Ibuprofen? That can help with the inflammation and ice for no more than 20 minutes at a time can also ease your pain.

However I highly recommend that you see your doctor.

Good luck!

Michelle

Q: Wrist PAIN….?
When I grip the racket for badminton ( in gym) and now when I hold my hairbrush my wrist hurts. It is my right wrist’s left side going up into my thumb. My mom has tendinitis in her wrists if that helps. I’m only 12 (going on 13!! ) I don’t know what this is….

A: Yo may have tendinitis or as the person above me said, carpel tunnel syndrome. You better tell your mother before this turns into something worse.

Q: Why do I have right wrist pain when I swing a golf club or bend it a certain way?
I have a sharp pain in my right wrist but it only happens when I twist or roll my wrist/hand a certain way. I get the pain at the start of the second half of my golf swing where you roll your wrists. It is usually a sharp pain when I hit the ball as well. The pain is on the back of my wrist and when i bend my wrist forward i can see a little bit of inflammation. What could it be?

A: You could have a ganglion cyst. You said you can see some inflammation on the back of your wrist. Most gc’s are found on young adults and on the dorsal (back side) of your wrist. It’s a pretty simple procedure to drain the cyst.
It could also be that you have repetitive use syndrome if you play a lot of golf. If that’s the case you need to rest your wrist until you are pain free. Then when you play wear a wrist support.
Good luck!

Q: How to cure wrist pain and discomfort?
I feel bones moving in my hand and wrist. Sometimes I can’t grip anything because I feel knives moving inside and the pain is so bad that I can’t do normal daily activities. I want to cure this problem. I ice it everyday as well as splint it and ACE wrap it. I also use IcyHot. Nothing works. I can’t even make pizza crusts at work anymore. I NEED HELP. PLEASE HELP ME.

A: your wrist is probably brokn or sprained you need to go to see a doctor theyll take x rays and DONT WAIT, YOU MIGHT NEED SURGERY TO PUT THE WRIST IN PLACE….. I SUGGEST SEE A DOCTOR IMEADIATLY!

Q: I have been having wrist pain during and after playing guitar what is wrong?
I have played for awhile and i am 17. Recently I have been getting sharp pain in my right wrist while playing even things that are not so difficult(such as master of the puppets by metallica). All i need to do is find out why. Before recently i have never had pain in my wrist while playing.

Thanks for the help

A: You shouldn’t be having the problem if you play much at all,,, it’s not like that a hard song,,, here’s a link that might help you

http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/symptom-checker/DS00671

Q: Is there any cure for wrist pain?
I’ve been sitting infront of the computer doing work for around 12 hours everyday. Now my right wrist started to pain due to using the mouse for long hours… Is there any cure or remedies for this?

A: Give your doctor a call and inform him of the pain and also the duration of time spent at the computer. He may be able to prevent this from becoming a chronic condition.
He may ask you to come in, or suggest a specific treatment you may do at home! Take care..

Q: What can I do to minimize wrist pain?
I’m on the computer 8 hours a day, primarily for work. I’ve started to notice my wrist tightens or locks up on meafter I’ve been on the computer for a while. It hurts! I’ll stop for a bit, stretch, let it rest, but when I get back to work the pain starts all over again. I’m pretty much shot for the day. What can I do to relieve this pain? It’s only my right wrist. (So of course I’m right handed.) Then every once in a while I get this striking pain in my hand. It’s annoying b/c I want to work more but I can’t. I’m only 25 and this is my livelihood. I’m a writer, so I’m a bit worried. Any ideas? Also what kind of doctor would I go to for this?

A: pain killers. or just put ice on it, and elevate it….don’t do much with your wrist..let it rest.

Q: Can any musicians help me with my wrist pain?
I play clarinet in a university concert band, and for a long tim now, as the rehearsal progresses I start to experience a lot of pain in my right wrist, the one that holds the weight of the clarinet. I feel like I have to shake my hand out anytime I get the chance, and the pain limits my dexterity while I hold the instrument. Has anyone else experienced this? And what did you do?

A: Yes, I have experienced something similar to this.

What I did (and it worked)
I used a wrist splint to immobilize my hand during everyday activities.
I drank more water.
I took Ligaplex.
I began doing hand/wrist/arm/shoulder stretches before and after playing.

You have repetitive strain injury (this is a generic term – there are many different types of RSI).

Hopefully you can head it off before damage is done. Stretching your hand/wrist/thumb **before and after** playing is your best hope. Just as an athlete would stretch before exercise.

What happened: I was practicing (a TON) in preparation for a gig and I injured my hand and wrist. Halfway through a song my hand would be in a pain… like how your bicep would feel after doing a curl over and over… eventually the muscle tells your brain “I need to stop”, but in the form of pain. That kind of pain.

Eventually it turned into tendinitis in my wrist and it spread to my finger tips, thumb, and parts of my hand. Like little pin pricks and it just hurt when I played and it sucked… BUT I beat it!!

Stretching before playing IS CRUCIAL. Water helps a lot (stay hydrated). Taking Magnesium, or better yet Ligaplex will help strengthen your tendons.

In reality you should lay off the playing right now. I know you’re not going to… but take it as easy as possible.

Avoid extra stress on your hand – a wrist splint is nice because you can take it off whenever, but when it’s on it takes the pressure off the wrist.

**Make sure you stretch your hands, fingers and thumb often.

Q: How can doing pushups eliminate wrist pain?
Are there any other exercises that eliminate wrist pain or strengthen the wrists?

A: LIFTING WEIGHTS! i went to the doctor yesterday and i asked them about my frequent wrist and ankle pains because i am a cheerleader, and she said to strengthen them lift weights. but not the EXTreme heavy ones

Q: Why do I have left wrist pain when I swing a bat?
I have a sharp pain in my left wrist but it only happens when I twist or roll my wrist/hand a certain way. I get the pain at the start of the second half of a baseball bat swing where you roll your wrists. What could it be?

A: too much masterbating, leads to less master batting.

Q: Are Handeze gloves good to have for an artist and you dont have wrist pain?
I’m a 22 year old comic book artist and dont really want to end up with wrist pain or arteries, or something like that later in life. Would getting these now help with that and maybe prevent or slow it down, or are they meant just for people who already have pain and this just helps with it?

A: hey
it may help
for a creative mind
and for a person who works hard
nothing is impossible

Q: What should you do if you have hand or wrist pain?
I have had hand and wrist pain before probably from using my computer. What should I do?

A: The fact that you experience wrist/ hand pain with activity may be an indication of nerve entrapment such as carpal or cubital tunnel syndrome. The hallmark symptom of these is usually tingling or numbness in one side of the hand or the other-pain is a less common complaint. Pain or tingling at night is most specific for these. Tendonitis may be developing. A wrist splint will not solve nerve entrapment or tendon irritation but it may make you feel better while you are wearing it. Be certain that you are sleeping with your elbows relatively straight, not bent. This is the cause of cubital tunnel syndrome. It’s unlikely that computer use itself is the culprit.

Q: I had severe hand/wrist pain. How do you recover from computer related injury?
I had hand/wrist and elbow pain so bad that I couldn’t use the computer at all. Then, I took a break from work. How do I recover so that I can use my computer again up to 8 hours a day for work?

A: I’ve had borderline carpal tunnel syndrome for years. The only way to heal is to rest it, or at least not overuse it. 8 hrs. a day may be too much for a year or two after this injury, depends on how bad it is. Of course, depending on the severity, you may need surgery.

They sell these wonderful support gloves at most drug stores. They kind of compress the wrist, which can relieve some of the pain. I wore one for about a year, and it hasn’t hurt as much since then.

I have also tried electrical stimulation with a Tens unit – it really does make it feel better. Sometimes you can get your doc to prescribe a Tens unit to manage your pain.

Hope this helps!

Q: what can cause abdominal stomach cramps and pain?
I can’t stand to smell food cooked. Can’t go to the bathroom. I throw up what ever enters the stomach. I feel weak.

A: Problems with the organs in the abdominal region i.e. the digestive system, liver, gall bladder, pancreas, appendix and kidney could be the main reasons for a bad stomach ache. Gastroenteritis can give you a severe stomach ache, while stomach pain from cancer may only be mild. I found a lot of great information on causes of stomach pain and its treatment at http://tinyurl.com/l9k9x

Q: Stomach cramps/pain + vomiting if I eat too much?
For the past 2 days, I have been feeling awful. Stomach cramps, abdominal pain etc. And the cramps are not where they happen during my period.

I cannot eat as much as I used to now, since it started, or else I get awful stomach cramps and I throw up. instead of being able to eat 2 pizza slices (just using as a reference), 2-3 garlic sticks and a cup of soda, I can only drink 1/4 cup of liquid + 1.5 slices of pizza, and anymore and I will get severe stomach cramps that last 30min after I have vomited up what I’ve eaten. AND I am still hungry, though I know if I eat more, I’ll get sick.

Any idea what this could be? Not sure if it is related, but I also have a white spot on my right tonsil that hurts, looks like tonsillitis. I also get bloated where I normally do during my period + slight vaginal pain in addition to stated above.
I have never had sex.
porker? >.< I am asking why I get cramps and severe stomach pain + vomiting when I eat less the usual, and am still hungry. clueless

A: First, if there is a chance you may be pregnant…. TAKE THE TEST!

If not… there are a few possibilities. The white spots on your tonsils could be a protein build up, salt water gargle may get rid of that.

The food and stomach issues could be chrones disease. Either way, please go see your doctor

Q: what causes stomach cramps, severe abdominal pain every week, migraines, and lack of menstral cycle in women!?
The lack of menstral cycle lasting over 2yrs! and the weight gain being over 40lbs. in the last three years! (I have suffered with this for a long while, and my pap smear, ultrasound, scope, and blood work “came out fine”) and, my HMO doctor gave me some hormon pills to start my m. cycle which the prescription was only for a week, and now that my doctor says that since it worked, i should keep taking it. Problem, my provider will not pay for the prescript. and my doctor won’t write me out one that they will pay for. I make 3,000 dollars annually, live quite poorly because of it, have a massive amount of family history on both sides of family of cancer and health problems (youngest being 12yrs.), have suffered with this since i was 12, and doctor says make app. at health dept. for the pill! Even though i called and was told she needs to write me prescription since insurance said they’d cover anything else that my doctor gives me for hormon pills, but, she won’t!!! is this hormons

A: obesity or stress

Q: Gas, bloated stomach, abdominal pains/cramps and chills, what is it?
I came back from Africa three weeks ago, I took all necessary precautions; anti-cholera drink, avoiding ice-cubes in drinks/salads, neutralizing all of our water before drinking it etc… After eating out at restaurants (but still being safe) for the last three days I felt ill when we flew home, had diarrhea every 5-10 minutes on the flight. A couple of other people (there were 20 of us) felt ill as well.

When I got back, the diarrhea got a little better but I still had urgency to go to the toilet 3-4 times a day, found it hard to go out without knowing where the nearest toilet was. After a few days I tried to change my diet a bit, I found eating less fat, no caffeine and high fibre seemed to help but the problem didn’t completely go. I was still sometimes having diarrhea, and sometimes passing “normal”-looking stools.

After a week I saw the doctor and had a stool sample taken, but he hasn’t gotten back to me, which i assume means that there was no infection from Traveler’s Diarrhea or something similar.

At various points I got chills and felt nauseated but I was never sick and never had a temperature (which makes me think it’s not food poisoning). I’ve thought I’ve had IBS for a few years now, so I settled on the idea that maybe something had just irritated it and my IBS was making it worse so it was taking a long time to get back to normal, but I avoided my normal “problem” foods (caffeine and nuts). From week 1 – week 2 the urgency to go to the loo/abdominal cramps would be eased by passing gas.

Now it is week three, and I have noticed that my stomach bloats up throughout the day, without necessarily relating to when I’ve eaten/the size of my meal. I have noticed that a lot of fat seems to make the situation worse (I pass a not fully-formed stool every day at the moment) but I was advised by my doctor to eat as normal, in order to let my system get used to my foods again. (The rest of the people on my trip are all now completely fine by the way, so it’s just me. Which makes me think it wasn’t the food/hygeine there)

I don’t know if this relates to my menstrual cycle or not, but I’ve also noticed that when I prod the right hand side of my abdomen, it feels very tender and hurts a little. Is this just because I’ve been reading up about appendicitis?

It’s not unbearably painful when I get the urgency to pass gas, but it is very annoying beause it means I feel uncomfortable when I go out somewhere and there are few seats/toilets near. Plus I’m going back to school in four days, and it is going to be reaaally embarrassing…

Does anyone have any ideas?
I wouldn’t have thought it was Chron’s disease as the abdominal cramps have just felt like an urgency to go to the toilet until today, when I got the pain in my side. This has only just started so it’s not a major symptom

A: Take a probiotic

Q: diarrhea, constipation, abdominal pain/ cramps on right side, and stomach pain . whats wrong?
i’ve been to doctors and had mutiple test done.
they are still looking for answers.

A: Sounds like irritable bowel but I would think that would be first symptom they would deal with. But if it continues to hurt and not getting answers fast enough, call the doctor back and tell them it is still hurting. Good luck.

Q: How long can an upset stomach or food poisoning last?
I have had diarrhoea for about 3 days and also i have been suffering from slight stomach cramp and abdominal pain. The stomach/abdominal cramps/pains haven’t been severe, but i can still feel them and also a slight pain in lower abdomen area. Should i go doctor?

A: Yes. Food poisoning can kill as you know and certain food poisoning is contagious to anyone around you. But probably isn’t food poisoning.

Q: I am having lower abdominal pain stomach cramping and a sharp pain shoot from my vag to my stom am i preg?

A: This may be more of a serious medical problem. You should see your physician. Could be a type of infection.

Q: severe abdominal pain, cramps, diarrhea, vomiting… any ideas?
25y/o old Female, no major pre-existing health conditions. 3 days ago I began to get bad abdominal and lower back pain and stomach cramps accompanied by vomiting. Over the past 3 days, intensity has fluctuated and vomiting was gone, but back now. I have also had diarrhea. The pains I am having are in my entire abdomen area and around my sides into my lower to mid back. It feels like I am repeatedly being stabbed. The nausea is just about unbearable. I dont particularly like going to the docs, but it appears I may have to. I was just wondering if these were common symptoms of anything that anyone knew of.
Just FYI, it is not my monthly friend coming to visit (that was 2 weeks ago). I have ruled out pregnancy because I am on the pill (and just to be completely positive, I took a home test).
Any ideas on what may be causing these symptoms, please advise!
Thank you.

A: The possible causes are never ending. Most commonly related to those symtoms, peptic ulcer comes to mind. If left untreated can get pretty nasty.

Might also just be a stomach virus.

Kidney infection.

Apendecidis.

Stress related.

I’ve always been advised that anything unbarable should be taken care of immediately. Especially pain not responding to pain medication.

Schedule an appointment or head to the ER. Apendicidis is very common among your age group and can be deadly and quickly too. The symptoms come on very hard & quickly.

There was about 4 months would I couldn’t keep anything down but small amounts of non-heavy stuff and always felt nauseous. Very simular to pregnancy symptoms but I wasn’t. I had real uncomfortable gas pains. I later found out that most likely I was just really stressed out and my body was reacting.

Just get checked sweety. The worst to happen is you’ll feel better in the long run

Q: Cramps, Abdominal pain?
Can anyone help?? First off I went to the dr monday because of really bad back pain and stomach cramps. (Thought it was my period??) Well dc. took a pregnancy test and came back positive very faint line because she says I’m early, because I have not missed my period yet. Can anyone shine some light on why I’m hurting like this (cramps and back pain) I have to go back next week to have my hcg checked again..

A: It could be ANYTHING. Some women (such as myself) simply experience light cramping and back pain in early pregnancy. Other women experience this when the pregnancy is etopic or is not going to make it to term. In this instance, you really will have to just wait until you have your hcg checked again. But I wouldn’t be overally concerned. Be sure that your taking your vitamin everyday and eating a healthy meal with plenty of folic acid. This will help your baby best (along with plenty of rest, of course).

Q: blood in diarrhea [bad] and abdominal pain?
its 3:30 am and i just had blood in my diarrhea along with some very bad stomach cramps/abdominal pain and was wondering if i should see a doctor immediately or can it wait

A: This is nothing to mess around with! Go see a Doctor or go to the Emergency Room. You could have picked up a bug from contaminated food to possibly Peritonitis or a number of things that could kill you.

Q: What might cause bleeding a week before my period, along with lower back pain and minor abdominal cramps?
I’m on birth control, and have been for about 7 years. I normally spot in between periods for 2-3 days. This month I had unusual spotting, heavier at first, bright red, and now just pink. This has been going on for a week now and I should get my period on Tuesday. Along with this, I’ve had a lower back ache all week, which is unusual for me, and every now and then mild cramping in my stomach. The pain in my back also seems to extend down through my hips and legs as well. Any ideas? My doctor wants to wait until June 6th to see me.

A: It’s probably just an irregular cycle, which can still happen on BCP’s, although it’s rarer. The other possibility is that something went wrong and you were pregnant but are having a miscarriage. At any rate, unless you suddenly start having a whole lot of heavy bleeding or the pain gets really bad and you develop a fever, seeing your doc in three weeks is probably OK.

Q: Abdominal stomach pain-14 yrs old?
i am 14 and i have recently been having small stomach cramps. When i was 12 i had these small stomach pains, and after a while i felt dizzy and as vomitting about three times a day, i stayed home form school for two weeks. i occasionally get the same pains sometimes, but they only last a couple of hours. i really want to know what is wrong—heres some info that might help:
it hurts more when i stand up and straighten my back
if i breathe out to bloat myself it hurts
if i breathe out to bloat myself instead of my stomach being rounded, there is a crease that goes across my belly button, it is only there when i have this pain. i really want to know?-please answer

A: I had similar problems when I was 12 and my mom took me to the pediatrician who referred me to a gastroenterologist.

After a few tests I was dxed with an illness and put on medications to stay well. Have your mom take you to the doctor to be check. Tell her what you told us. We can’t dx you online. You need to see a doctor…preferably a GI so he can see what’s going on inside your digestive tract.

Q: Do i have stomach flu or food poisoning?
This is my 4th day and im having stomach cramps, abdominal pain and watery diarrhea. Is there a treatment to get rid of these symptoms?
age:im 20 years old
no fever
last thing i ate was shoyu chicken
location:oahu hawaii
nope im the only one who gets it every time summer begins
mostly i eat foods that stay in the fridge for about 2 days and i dont microwave my food because im very lazy

A: Sounds like stomach flu to me. Norovirus to be more specific, the symptoms you included match up to it. The best thing to do is keep hydrated (drink gatorade) and get a lot of rest. you should go to a doctor, because if the symptoms persist for more than 2-3 days, your condition can be serious, and needs some medical attention.

Q: Three weeks after unprotected sex, and i am having stomach pains. Am i pregnant?
Okay, so this boy and i had unprotected sex when i though i was off my period. However, the next day i realized i was still on my period because i started bleeding again. This was not my first time to have sex so I know it was my period. That was three weeks ago and now i am having stomach cramps, lower abdominal pains, and my uterus seems to be swelling and it hurts. My stomach feels really hard too. Am i pregnant?

A: totally see a doctor, or …if you can’t then, idk what to tell you, im sorry
good luck

Q: Can anyone help me with lower abdominal/stomach pain after….?
oral sex and being fingered? Last night my boyfriend messed around and he went down on me and fingered me, and since I woke up this morning I’ve had pains in my stomach almost like period cramps, but its no where near time for that. Any suggestions on what this could be and how I could alleviate the pain? Thanks
my lower back is hurting too, and im sore all over

A: Sex, or sexual activity causes cervical / uterine contractions. This is not that uncommon. The muscles in your lower abdomen also contract when engaging in such activity, and the combination of those events are what gives you residual pain/cramping. As long as it doesn’t persist, no problem. If it does, then you may need to get in to the Dr.
