Q: sudden sharp pain left side of chest?
I have sudden sharp pain of the left side of my chest at times. IT is sudden and only last a few seconds. Sometimes it radiates to my left shoulder blade. When the sharp pain goes away it is a little painful in shoulder blade, underarm, and chest for a while. It usually happens when I move a certain way or something. It scares me because I do not want it to be my heart.

A: How old are you?
Get this checked out, it could be a number of things, less serious than your heart:
1. Indigestion( sometimes it can be so painful people don’t even believe it can be indigestion, trust me, I’ve been to hospital with it)
2. Trapped nerve.(I’m not too sure about this one, but as i said, definitely call your doctor)
3. Appendicitus( it can sometimes start on the left hand side, and travel to the right hand side where the appendix is, but it’s likely not this as your pains are too far up)
4. The way you’ve been sitting isn’t right.
These are just some of the stuff I can think of that is in any way related, but don’t take my word for it, call your doc. Hope you get better soon :)

Q: What would be causing lower back pain, left side?
I’m having a lot of pain in that location. Not bad enough to go to the E.R, but enough for it to be a nuisance. Is there something right there, like a kidney?
what about if i’m feeling it in the front, also? Kidney was my first thought..ok then
just curious-is there any possibility that’s related to pregnancy? I’m on the ring, but it’s never 100% or so I’ve heard…

A: When it comes to pain a professional will ask you a lot of very important questions and get a look at exactly where your pain is. The answers you provide will give a more accurate idea as to what may be going on,

Your actual kidneys are placed right behind the lowest ribs on the right and left side – so they really are pretty high in the low back region. If a kidney stone is on the move the pain will be lower but the pain is so debilitating that you will go to the hospital and beg for mercy. So if your pain is not enough for the ER it probably is not the kidney. Try this, drink plenty of water, take an anti inflammatory like Ibuprofen, try heat packs and give it 24 – 48 hours. If no better, go to an urgent care place and let them run some simple tests to see what is going on.

A urine test will do two things – it will see if you have trace blood in your urine which could indicate a kidney stone or infection, and it could be a pregnancy test also. It sounds like you need to make an appointment very soon with the doctor who put the ring in. I wonder if the ring could give you low back pain??

Q: Pain left side of lower back lasting for the last 5 days, comes and goes, feels better when bending. What ?
What could it be? No recent injuries or strain. Moved upward to a spot a little higher today. No longer hurting in original spot.

A: Once infection has been ruled out IE: kidney–bladder etc…Consider possible sacroiliac joint inflamation.

It can occur for no reason and is very painful leaving one feeling like they can not completely stand up straight but feel better bent over a bit.

If the joint is out–one leg will be ever so slightly shorter than the other.
A trip to PT will show you how to “pop” this joint back in.

The best advice is to seek a Dr.s advice.

A: it may be a muscle strain but any kind of sharp pain in your abdomen or chest areas should be looked at by a doctor. it could be a big internal problem, or maybe its nothing. i would really just get it checked just in case it was something serious.

Q: Can pain in left side of neck cause pain when swallow?
I had a pain on my left side of my throat and then it went to the right side and then it went. A day later I have the pain on swallowing on the left side again. I do have a tight neck on the left side as well, maybe the muscle is joined? I don’t have a sore throat but my one year old has had a cold from nursery. My temp is normal as well.

It seems better in the day then night.

Thank you.

A: This sounds more like swollen lymph nodes. Lymph nodes are located throughout areas of your body but the ones in your neck being swollen are much more noticeable and uncomfortable because they are in an area that moves around a lot (neck/head/muscles) Check under your arms toward your breasts and see if there is any swelling there, too. Swollen lymph nodes can be indicative of a lot of things but are most usually associated with infection. If you began to run a temp above 101.0 degrees you really should see a Dr. Sometimes the lymph nodes will swell for a few days and go away. That is just your body taking care of itself.

I usually have a little bit of lower back pain. For the past couple hours my left side of my lower back has been in enough pain that its hard to walk. If anyone knows what this might be a sign of that would be great to know.

A: Could be labor.

Whenever I have back pain (I normally get it up in the middle left portion of my back) I have my husband stick his fist in there and rotate it a little. It hurts like heck while he’s doing it, but afterwards it feels like he released whatever was irritating my back.

Hello, I am due on my period on Saturday and this seems to happen most months. I exercise regularly, but just before my period when i exercise i get this sharp pain in my left side and its just in my abdominal. I think its above my bowel. Its sharp and i have to stop exercising because of it. Its more when i do energetic workout like running and things like that.

Just wondering if anyone has any idea what it could be.
Thankyou all!

A: Maybe just your cramps kicking in, your period put pressure on your stomach ad lower half. drink lots of water before your execise you should do fine.

Good Luck! :)

Q: i have pain left side of chest and left arm tingling in fingers sometimes cold sweats lasts up to ten minutes?
once things start to settle i am totally exhausted.it happens at no paticular time

A: You need to tell your doctor about this ASAP. Those are some of the symptoms of a heart condition and you need to be checked immediately.

Q: pain in left side and gets really bad when I have to pee?
I have had pain in my sides before but they never lasted very ling until today. It started this morning and it has continues all day not as bad at times but then really bad at others. It gets really bad when I have to go to the bathroom. And I can’t seem to hold it very long. I have been going to the bathroom about every hour but sometimes even more often. It is on my left hand side below my ribs. Any idea what it could be?

A: This happened to me, and AFTER I figured out it wasn’t a kidney infection by going to the doctor, I found out that my pelvic floor muscles were contracting, causing the pain. If you want immediate relief, lie facedown on your bed, and bring up your left knee to your side, and stay in that position for a few minutes. That should help relax the tense muscle. Then, go see a physical therapist (one who is trained to work with the pelvic floor muscles), who will make the problem hopefully go away for good. Make sure you don’t have a urinary tract infection though, of course, as that must be treated immediately.

Q: Pain on left side of lower abdomen when sitting?
When I sit (as in the act of literally placing my rear on the seat) there is a decent amount of pain on my lower left side of my abdomen below my waist line. Is this just a muscle ache? Could it be caused by having sex?

A: Yes, and yes. You probably have a muscle pinched in your back and it gets more pressure on it when you go to sit. Here is how to release your back muscles to rid yourself of the pain:
Back::
Place your left hand on your left leg next to your body. Place your right hand over your left shoulder and find the muscles next to your spine and press on them and hold. After 30 seconds slowly lower your body forward, keeping your left arm fairly straight as you do. When you reach your lap remain there for another 10 seconds, release the pressure but remain there for another 30 seconds. Then reverse your hand positions and do your right side.

Q: sharp pain left side of chest?
Hi, every now and then over the last couple of wks I get short sharp stabbing pain in the left side of my chest just below my boob, i’ve also noticed now and then a dull ache in my left shoulder any ideas what this could be.

A: I am not a doctor and don’t think the others are here either so please go see one ASAP. It could be heart problems. If it isn’t heart related at least you will know what it is.
