Q: Am I ovulating when I get pain right side of abdomen?
I have just started to get pain in my right lower abdomen this is very like mild period pain but centered in one spot on the right hand side.is this ovulation we are trying for a baby?

A: Sounds like it could be, yes. I find that it’s very localized, and most prominent where the pelvic bone sticks out the most, near my tummy. Much lower down than I’d imagined my ovaries were :) The way to know for sure will be if you get it on the other side next month !!!

Q: What usually causes a sharp pain in the right side of the chest?
From time to time, I experience a sharp pain right under my right breast. It only lasts for a few seconds, but still, it makes me worry.

A: Here are a few links that should ease your mind

Q: What condition can give you strong pain at the bottom of the right side of your ribs?
There were a few occasions that I got a pain right under my ribs on my right side, but when I moved positions it went away till about a week ago. The pain came and it stood for about an hour no matter what position I was in. With the pain by my ribs, I also had a burning sensation throughout my stomach. That had never happened before. I just wanted to know if someone knows what it could have been??

A: That could be your gall bladder, or a gall stone lodged in the bile duct.

If the pain is not there now, you can help determine whether that’s what it is by keeping track of what you eat and when you have this pain. If it’s the gall bladder, you are likely to have the pain when you have eaten a meal high in fat and/or a large meal.

I’m not a doctor, but the location and sensation you report sounds like what I had before I had my gall bladder removed.

Q: Pain right side of ribs, numbness if left arm and hand?
For about a week I have been getting pain in my left shoulder and neck, and numbness down my left arm and hand, then over the weekend I started getting really bad pain on the right side of my ribs at the top, dont know if they are linked or not and cant get a gp appointment for 2 weeks, anyone got any ideas what either of them could be?

A: The pain & numbness in your arms is probably musculoskeletal with some nerve involvement – maybe due to a pulled muscle or bulging disc in your upper spine. The pain in your ribs may be secondary pain to how you are moving since having sore arms.

I would phone your GP and request an emergency appointment and only if they won’t give you one, go to your walk in minor injuries or A&E. All Gp’s have emergency appts allocated on a daily basis but phone in the morning so they don’t all get taken.

Q: Pain on the right side of my chest just below the breast has now led to severe back pain, right side, help…?
The pain in my chest started approx. one year ago, the pain was infrequent so I didn’t think much about it. For approx. one month the pain has moved to my back, right side, and is very persistent. For the last week I have also been having painful back spasms between my shoulder blades. I have done a little research on gallbladder disorder, does this sound familiar to anyone? Thanks a bunch for your input. Tina-26-female-Denver CO

A: How active are you? Is the pain intermittent or constant? Worse in the am or pm? What makes it better?
#1. Is it Chest pain?
#2. Is it Upper back muscle spasms
#3. Is it gallbladder?

What kid of diet do you have?
What is your activity level?

Try stretching in the morning and noticiing whether or not your neck muscles are involved. Most women carry tension in their neck without realizing which leads to muscle spasms.
Begin a strengthening program that involves the muscles of the upper back and shoulders.
If you do suspect gallbladder disease, or actual chest pain, then by all means, see a doc.
But, if you are generally healthy and do not take any medications. Try taking two Advil in the am, and two in the PM for inflammation and just see if the pain is still there. Try using a hot pack at night and try stretching and exercising. it really does help. Good luck.

Q: Endometriosis lower back pain on right side?
Anyone with endometriosis experience lower right side pain?
Seems worse in the mornings.
Its just above my hip, the pain is also in the abdomen in the same area except in the front.

Its like its a pain all the way through the abdomen and straight through to the back just above my hip.
Seems like its where an ovary would be.
(I have a laproscopy sceduled for next friday)

A: i have it on my right side as well

but the pain can vary in time and duration.

Sometimes it feels like shooting pain and sometimes it feels like I have no blood circulation.

I just had my 3rd lap last friday and my new doc said that what i was feeling was a result of the endo. I have to go get lupron treatments to take care of remnant stuff.

hope this info helps

good luck on your lap and don’t forget to bring a pillow with you and very comfortable pj’s on your way back home

Q: 38 weeks pregnant and pain in right side chest when exhaling?
I’m 38 weeks pregnant and I have pain in the right side of my chest just nder my ribs when I exhale, its hard to take in a full deep breath. I should have more room in my chest now to breath since my baby has already lowered in to my pelvis as far as she can go without breaking my water. It feels as though something is under my ribs though causing pain and this is new.

A: When that sensation occurred to me; my doctor said it was due to my organs being pushed up, but it would be relieved after giving birth to the baby. Afterwards, yes I could breathe better but still had pain. Went to my chiropractor and found out that my little had actually kicked a rib out of place; he popped it back in and i’ve been smooth breathing ever since. I hope you get to feeling better soon.

Q: pain in right side of chest and back since 2 months after giving birth?
I have had this pain in the right side of my chest and all down my right side and my upper and lower back hurt also. It is not a constant pain it only hurts when I move certain directions. It feels like muscle pain. It has been going on for almost 6 months. It started when my son was almost 2 months old. Has anyone else had this and do you have any suggestions?

A: Did you have a C-section? If so this might be scar tissue causing all of these problems..I would get this checked out by a doctor.. Congrats on your son, and hope you get to feeling better.

Q: Reason for pain on right side of right breast near armpit?
I’ve had a sharp pain on the right side of my right breast, pretty much in my armpit for almost 3 weeks. What could cause this?? Its there all the time and gets worse when I move my arm lots.

A: Next time you are in the shower, get soaped up and raise your right arm over your head and push around where it is sore to see if you feel any kind of lump under your arm. If you do, you might want to see your doctor and have it checked, as there are many glands in that area, and it could need some tests run. I don’t want to scare you, but it would be better to be safe than sorry, if there is a lump there.

best wishes..

Q: 18 weeks pregnant very severe abdominal pain on right side?
After i used the bathroom this morning I have had severe right side abdominal pain. So bad that i can barely walk or move. It hurts to go to the bathroom and if I lie down I am okay just a little tender. The nurse said to rest I called back 4 hours later because I was still in pain and she said to come in tomorrow at 1130. Until then has anybody has such severe pain at this stage of pregnancy?

A: i have a lot of pain in the ligaments around (that hold) my uterus. they hurt so bad. so i have to just lay down for a little bit and then they finally stop hurting. or you could have a really big gas bubble. i know that sounds silly, but it could be. or your baby could be pinching a nerve on that side.

but yes, no matter what we say here, make sure you do call your doctor back if the pain persists.

Q: Pain lower right side near ascending colon and started period?
I woke up and felt this intense pain coming from my stomach so i walk in the bathroom and found out my period has started, but this one hurts really bad, i’m naturally heavy. Anyway i went to reach for some tissue with my right hand and this bloating pain washed over my lower side of the stomach. I don’t know whats going on with me but anybody please tell me what’s going on.

A: I am sorry you’re in pain. It sounds like it felt sort of like a dull pinch. Did you have the reaction to jerk back to the left? If so, did it seem to go away?

If yes, it sounds like a muscle . I take it you just woke up? If you were sleeping in an odd position then got up suddenly, because of the period pain, then stretched to the side soon after waking up this can cause muscle aches. Normally, a person will wait a few moments before stirring or getting up. Your muscles have time to wake up and get limber.

I get those in my lower back a lot if I do as stated above. Or if I’ve been at the computer for a while then stand and bend over.

Walk around a bit, get woke up–if you plan to stay awake–, stretch. It will help. For some reason, I get really tight all over more quickly when I’m menstruating, than not.

If you ever think it’s your appendix, do this. Make an L with your index finger and thumb. Place thumb in navel and finger at or on hip. The area that falls in the middle of that line is know as the McBurney’s Point. If any pain is there go to the hospital.

Q: Pain in right side of neck and right arm?
For the past couple of days I have been having this pain in the right side of my neck. It also feels a tad bit stiff. Also the pain is now extended down my right arm and end in the middle of my right arm in the crease on the other side of my elbow. What could be causing this?

A: Most people will experience neck pain at some point in their lives. Neck pain can be acute, meaning it lasts a few hours to a few weeks, or it can be chronic. Neck pain that lasts several weeks or longer is considered chronic neck pain.

Most causes of neck pain aren’t serious. Poor posture at work, such as leaning into your computer, and during hobbies, such as hunching over your workbench, are common causes of neck pain.

But sometimes neck pain can signify something more serious. If your neck pain is so severe that you can’t touch your chin to your chest despite a few days of self-care, seek immediate medical attention.

Q: Having a sharp shooting pain that radiates down to my inner tigh on the right side?
Im pregnant and alittle worried. Ive had one normal pregnancy and am in my 6th month, and have have 4 miscarriages all in the 2-3 month before this one. Im in pain right now as I type?

A: I don’t think anyone here on answers can tell you for sure, is is the same as before? The best thing to do in these situations is to get yourself checked out asap as it is more than likely the baby pressing on a nerve in your pelvis a bit like sciatica but if anything is wrong the sooner you get help the better the outcome is the usual rule, can you feel the baby moving ? have you had any blood loss ? If you are not sure what to do ring the out of hours dctors number and check with them for advice, hope everything is ok for you x

Q: Pain In Right side of head and Bleeding nose on Right side too?
I have had a stabbing pain on the right side of my head for about three hours now.
i have also had blood coming out of my right nostril too.
any clues?

A: if you have high blood pressure, you should be worried because you might have had a mini-stroke but don’t be too worried because there are many other factors that can contribute to that, if you’ve eaten anything pork within the last few hours it could be the salt is catching up with you if medicine such as a ibuprofen pill doesn’t work go to the ER…hope u feel better! : ]

Q: Pain in right side of my back now has advanced to front of my body?
I have had back pain for 5 days and now it seems to be only on the right side of my back. But now the right side of my stomache below my ribs hurts pretty bad. I went to the doctor but he said its probably just a pulled muscle but I dont think so now that its hurting my side.

A: How does it hurt? You need to be more specific.. Could be appendicitis or sciatica (due to back problems). Google sciatica and if your symptoms match up then I really suggest going to the doctors to get some xrays.
